Hey everyone, any input will greatly be appreciated.

Setup: S13 Blacktop in 98 KoukiStock ECUSR MAF550 Injectors Top FeedSard Fuel Pressure Regulator w/ B&M Gauge3" Downpipe3" ExhaustStock TurboFMICeverything else is pretty much stock...

Issue: Before I put on my exhaust... the engine revved freely and strong = but I did experience some back fire... ?? even without an exhaust...

Problem: Now that I have an exhaust with 3" high flo cat... The car does not rev past 3-4k while in gear... when I'm not in gear the car can still rev... but it's slower... and so while I'm moving... there's like... no power. There is substantial backfire.. and when I do get to rev around 3-4k, it sounds like I hit a rev limitter... It just doesn't go past it.

Current: So after I drive it back from the exhaust shop. I look at the muffler, and I can see the inside glowing red. I have never seen the exhaust glo before, and I don't think that's a very good sign.

Troubleshooting: I lowered the psi on the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) to 35, [it was set at 40 before] - and it still had problems. I did this because the exhaust shop mech suggested that it was running rich. But who knows?

Other than that - I don't know what to do...

Questions:

1. Am I running Rich or Lean? 2. What can I do right now to fix this issue? 3. Is there a way without buying more expensive parts? 4. If the only way is to buy more stuff [ie: chip, wideband, etc] - what exactly do I need?5. Is there anyone in the area that is willing to help me out in person? (Location: Northern New Jersey, Bergen County)

Thanks guys/girls - I look forward to your replies.

Sam.

When the exhaust pipe starts to glow red, that's a sign of a very LEAN mixture. It's possible the O2 sensor may not be installed correctly. Also there may be a major vacuum leak.

You might have a clogged exhaust pipe as well. I know that sounds whack, but a very restrictive or restricted (clogged) exhaust pipe will retain more heat and can cause the exhaust to glow red...

550 cc on the stock T25? I'm not an SR guy but isn't that a bit large? Don't they normally run 370s?

If you are running thoes 550's with a stock ecu and stock fuel pump stop driving the car before you kill the motor.

Put the stock injectors back in or get a tuned ecu to compinsate for the 550's(I don't have a ****ing clue as to why you have 550's with a stock t25), and upgrade your fuel pump.
