Okay guys, I have a problem with this outlet tube from the exhaust. It is attached to nothing, and is applying a thin coat of carbon to my engine bay...also melted together a wire or two. Anyway, I was gonna take it off remove the piping and plug it (was told a nickel would work prefectly, and not melt or leak.), but it's rusted on there pretty good. Can I get another one of the threaded collars from an auto parts store, or nissan? Does anyone know of another way to take care of this? Enclosed a few pics for reference.

Here is a pic of the rusted piece:

i'm guessing u had an AIV assembly removed & those metal tubes are just there...

did you try using 'PB Blaster' on that part overnight & then trying again?

Order part number 14052-21R00 from a dealership. That's the bolt to fill the hole left in the manifold. Get some PB Blaster and soak the threaded collar in it. Let that sit overnight, then soak it again. I believe you need a 24mm wrench to get the old fitting off. If it's still giving you a hard time, soak it down again and slip a pipe over the wrench to get some more leverage. Once you finally get it out, toss the pipe and collar and put the tapered bolt into the hole. Job complete!

nismo521: Thank you for the info and the part number. From your post I gathered that part number 14052-21R00, will plug that hole....completely seal it off right? I hope so, the guy in the parts dept. said it was a heater outlet hose for a Stanza.

Alright, thanks to nismo521 I got the plug I needed, and am waiting for PB Blaster to break down the rust. Special thanks to nismo521 for the part number.

No problem man. Did you local dealership have the plug in stock? I had to wait a week and a half for mine. If I'd have known about Midway back then, I woulda ordered from them. Good luck getting the thing out. Just remember to be patient, if it's not budging, soak it w/ some more PB and give it a little time to penetrate.

worked great, and not only that....but it helped out alot with my sluggish acceleration. I am ecstatic! Now, if only I could trace down the rest of the problem!
