Hey everyone,

I just recently picked up a 2009 Silver Altima Coupe 2.5 6MT. So far I love the car but their is only one thing that I do not like... The previous owner got an aftermarket exhaust.. I am not sure which one it is because I do not see any markings on the muffler but I have a feeling its the cheap ebay TopSpeed one from the little research I have done. First off it sounds terrible and at highway cruising speeds the exhaust gets louder than I would like. I drive 60miles to work each day so relatively quiet highway driving is important so i do not have a headache by the time i make it home.

I have also seen the OBX exhaust on ebay for around 300 but it has the muffler in the middle with the tips coming out the sides which my exhaust does not.. has anyone tried that one? I do not know much about mufflers but I feel like that design may be a bit quieter.

I was wondering if you guys had any opinions on what I should do.. do you feel that going to an exhaust shop and asking them to weld on two new mufflers would do the job or should I just go ahead and get a brand new exhaust installed?

I have been on youtube a lot the last few days listening to exhausts to see what I like.. I really like the Stillen exhaust the most (Along with Nismo but it seems expensive). Am I able to pick up just the Stillen mufflers or do I have to pay the 500 for the full exhaust.

Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Might just be cheaper to grab the Stillen axle-back exhaust and install it yourself. Don't know how much a shop's going to charge you to start chopping up your exhaust and welding new bits on. But you could call them up and ask.

Plus, you'd probably be happier with it. Sounds like it might be better quality.

Welcome! I would def recommend the Stillen, i have it and love it. I will say that at 55-60mph its a bit loud, not super loud though, plus i have a y-pipe which doesnt help. Over 60 say like 75 its pretty quiet. But i love the sound it makes so im not complaining.

I would imagine that Stillen does not allow me to just purchase mufflers right? So I am stuck getting the full exhaust?

I need to go to my local exhaust shop and see what they have to say.. I was hoping to spend less than 500-600 on exhaust but the current set up sounds terrible so i need to do something. Due to being dual exhaust that probably will be hard to do even if i just get mufflers however.

I know that I can get Magnaflow mufflers cheap but sadly I do not think they sound that great on the 2.5. I am pretty sure they have borla as well but I have not heard what borla mufflers would sound like on this car.

Any exhaust recommendations other than the Stillen? or any recommendations on the best place to purchase the exhaust to try and save a few bucks?

I have heard that the borla exhaust gives a nice deep tone on the 2.5 as well anyone recommend it or is everyone here pretty much nismo or stillen?

I mainly just want to be able to have an exhaust which sounds nice at idle and when I decide to drive the car a bit hard but something that is quiet enough that I can still maintain a conversation on the highway going 75 or be able to listen to music without feeling like I need it extremely loud to compete with my exhaust.

I was originally looking for a 2010 2.5 6MT but I simply couldnt find one within 300 miles so I ended up finding an amazing deal on this 2009 with only about 25k miles so I jumped on it.

I was given 2 sets of rims which is also nice, I plan on selling both sets at some point to help me pair for a set which I pick out.

I am still iffy about the wing as well... I think I might prefer a lip but I will probably leave it there for awhile to see it if grows on me. What I would really love is this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWAX%3AIT but I am not big on carbon fiber and cant find one that isnt :( I also would prefer to not spend 600+ lol

I am pretty excited about this car, it has been about 2 years since I have owned a manual and this car has been the perfect combination of fun and gas mileage (due to driving 100+ miles a day) I could find.

I have plans to change a good amount of the car when I have the time / money... I plan on changing the front bumper, front grille, and the headlights because I hate the orange. Other rims, led tails, Double din headunit, leather interior and a few other things will follow as well.

Is their anyplace that I can purchase different headlights for this model year? possibly blacked out or just without the orange? or even someone who does the mod themselves? any idea a price range it would cost?

Also I have heard a lot about this cmod grille... it appears to just be a mesh grille much like the trex grille I have seen but the trex is verrry expensive for what it is (over 300) how much is this cmod grill and where could I find one?

Any other recommendations on common mods people do on this car?

One of the best choice with modifications I made.....Nismo Catback. In my opinion...its not too loud...not too quiet. If people said that Stillen is quieter compared to Nismo, then damn that must be real quiet...cuz I sometimes I wish my Nismo was a bit louder. But def. no regrets here...idle and start-up sounds orgasmic with my Nismo :dblthumb:

Oh and I got my nismo exhaust for basically 600 bucks. In the site it says 700 but I had a 7% discount coupon for the week I bought it, so basically 630 + Shipping and handling. In another words 700 plus free shipping or 630 +70 bucks in shipping. Anyway you want to look at it.

IMO the LSD exhaust sounds the best, the nismo is also nice.
