if you have the Nismo like in your sig. than just have it fixed under the 1 year warranty.

the only rusting i've seen is that i have 3" piping before my cat and i was doing 100+ over a bump and bottomed out and when i was lookin at my exhaust i saw a huge scrape... then like a month or 2 later i was at the muffler shop doing some other stuff and noticed it began to rust.... so the part thats rusting, did it get scraped or something? cuz if so then i think that might be normal.

ya they should replace it, your exhaust shouldn't be rusting like that if you didn't bottom out or anything

i think mine is kinda rusting too. i think only the tips are stainless steel. and they get really dirty too. anyone know any tips on keeping them clean ie getting the soot off the tips.

i went to my dealerships service dept today. They say it is natural for the metal to surface rust due to the constant hot and cold atmosphere. they might be right but i think its a lil fishy??

wash it off as best as you can... then dry it.. then get some mothers chrome wheel polish... put that on, let it dry, then use a microfiber clioth to get that off... end result should be pure sex my dude... let me know how it turens out... actually, I'm gonna go do that today!

well , my post was responding to DJnastie's post.... just regarding cleaning off the tips, and restoring the "dealer shine" to them...

if you're experiencing rust, that is a different issue, and may not be fixed with mothers chrome polish... sorry

Based on your location I would say the primary cause would be road salt.

Stainless can still have a layer of oxidation on the surface. It can also pitt/stain/etc depending on its composition and environment.

Stainless doesnt always mean rustless. A little rust on the surface isnt an issue. Rusting all the way through is. Its possible it is just surface rust and its not an issue unless you enjoy looking underneath your car all the time. Long story short, road salt is a necessary evil.
