I keep hearing the G35 coupes exhaust and was thinking to myself, it has almost the same engine so how can I make my 06 M35 sound like that? From the start up to hitting the gas, it sounds so good. Is it a simple muffler change? Does anyone know what the difference is that makes it sound so much more throatier?

I had a G35 Coupe... It had a very nice exhaust note, but I think the M35 (at least the 2008 Sport) has a much deeper rumble to its exhaust than the Coupe had. It sounds more like a V8.

If you look underneath a G35 coupe, 350z and the FX model you will see its just a single pipe going into a muffler with 2 outlet pipes. On the M models it's a dual pipe going into 2 mufflers. They did that to keep the car quiet.

Ahhh...good to know. I had a G35 as a loaner about a month ago and you could definately tell the car's exhaust had more bite. Now I know why. I still like the sound of my car at about 60-65MPH when the engine is at about 2600RPM. Nice power moan.

I do have the 06 M35 sport and I do notice a deeper note, but its not as noticable as the G35. Thats probably because of what tigerclaws1318 said and the M is meant to be quieter. I havent really gone behind the car to hear it while someone hits the gas, so maybe its harder to hear inside the car. Maybe I need to do that before I think about changing anything. However, I dont think I want to change to the single pipe as I dont think that has any benifit to the M does it? I guess it does have a nice rumble to it at higher speeds when hitting the gas. I dont know, I guess I was just curious.
