i was thinking of getting the nismo exhaust for my altima but my buddy said that it would be cheaper to just custom make our own pipes and buy mufflers. he says itll be cheaper, which i believe, but what other advantages would fabricating our own exhaust have over the nismo exhaust? any and all help would be appreciated. thanks!

Welcome!

I'd say if you have the time and tools to fabricate an exhaust system for your vehicle than go for it. People purchase systems such as the NISMO because Nissan has done the hard part of designed, fitting and testing a system that you can just throw on your car. If you build your own you may have to overcome trial and error and make one as you go. It will be considerably cheaper but also more time devoted. If you buy a premade cat-back system than you KNOW it will fit your ride because it was made for it.

yeah that much i had figured. i would much rather go with the nismo exhaust but if fabbing my own exhaust would save me a couple hundred bucks i might want to consider it. also i wouldve liked to have stuck with all, if not most, nismo aftermarket parts.

We have a really nice catback for the Altimas. We offer over 18 different mufflers to choose from and it has a really nice and quiet tone to it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Ah, yes, custom-fabbing. Something I did HEAVILY on my '03 Mitsu Lancer. I couldn't stand how the exhaust that I bought sounded (cheap Tsudo POS) and so I cut off the muffler and welded on a Magnaflow...I did so many things to that exhaust that if I had actually PAID the money for a decent one I would have saved trouble.

I like the idea of buying an exhaust for the new Altima that has a single-canister exit, similar to how the JIC Magic exhaust is for the 350Z.
