hey just wanted to post to know if any of you ever had any problems with your exhaust manifold bolts/nuts

for some reason all of mine are stripped so i bought a heli coil kit and repaired them and now they are good as new but i noticed while doing the heli coils that the gasket were pretty much in pieces but i didnt bother to buy new ones cause i have the new ones for the turbo manifold but now when the engine is on it makes a tapping noise from the engine to the exhaust manifold not the nicest noise out there but hey it will be gone in due time

I've never had my exhaust manifold off, but it wouldn't suprise me if the bolts were completely f***ed and maybe even some other under-hood fasteners. One of the bolts that holds on my distributor cap broke when I was trying to loosen it a couple weeks ago and I had to jerry rig a thru-bolt.

Can't a leaking exhaust manifold gasket cause that tapping sound? That's what I've heard before from Chevy guys who had old headers that started to leak.

careful leaking exhaust at the manifold can burn valves

if you don't want to use the new ones... you can add a little exhaust leak fix type goo in there as a temp fix.... might be annoying to clean up when you're ready to use the new ones tho
