What are everyone's thought on Exhaust Manifold/Turbo Bracing???????

I've heard mixed thoughts on this issue. Some say Yeah definetly (MX6 guys), some say NO!!!! (RX7 guys)(this was found by a quick google)

MX6 guys say yeah it definetly can't hurt, that and they upgrade their manifold studs to 10mm. I gotta see if that is possible with our heads.Might be a possible upgrade to fight against broken studs...

RX7 guys seem to be totally against the use of braces due to the different expansion rates and disimilar metals. They say that braces make manifolds crack.

I just got this egay manifold and it doesn't have bracing on it, like the other egay manifolds, so I was thinking about making a brace for it (mani to block).Or having someone weld some braces onto the manifold itself (head and turbo flange to runners).

Bracing on runners and flange

No bracing on the runners or flange

Depends on where they crack. If they're cracking on top of the runners, bracing would only help.

More importantly, the exhaust should be supported at the transmission so it takes the weight off of the manifold.

By bracing where and what kind of bracing do you mean??

Because if you look at the top pic, there are these small triangular peices of metal they use to brace the Head Flange to the Runners and what you can't see is the Large triangular piece of metal used to brace the T3 flange to the 2 main converging runners.

Or do you mean Fabbing up a bracket from the Block to the T3 Flange.

Now the little triangular braces they look to be the same material as the manifold and they should heat and cool similarly to the rest of the mani due to their position.

But a Brace from the block to the mani would be cooler on the block side and hotter on the mani side. It also would be a different material than the manifold.

Yeah I'm def gonna fix my DP that is messed up, so that I can put the stock CAT flange mount in there. Or do you mean that I should solidly mount the exhaust to the trans.

Right now there is no Flexpipe in my DP.When I redo it, I'm gonna put a Flex section into it.
