I've always just tightened them down pretty tight and called it a day. If you get a leak, snug up the nuts a little more and there ya' go!

I wouldn't imagine it's anything more than around 50-60 ft/lbs.

FSM says 27 - 35 Ft Lbs on the KA24DE.

But I would go 40 because of the turbo/header/etc hanging off the side of it. I bought new grade 8 studs from the hardware store. They are threaded all the way through just to make sure they get all the way to the back of the hole. Should make it a bit safer to run them up a bit tighter.

I really gotta stop bein' "old school" on my torque methods. I'm always just givin' stuff the ol' "quarter past a squeak" method. LOL

its all good. i do the same thing. if i cant turn the socket or wrench anymore after i have powered up, then its good enough lol. in all seriousness, tighten them according to what was previously said if you have a torque wrench.

I've never used a torque wrench on a manifold EVER. I always used the german torque method. Usually worked pretty well.

German torque method? Is that where you tighten one, take a drink of beer, tighten another, take another drink of beer, and so on?

First of all, Beer is always involved in anything related to forced induction. Thats just a basic rule for all makes and models

German torque is a special procedure where you torque somthing goudentight

Its true. Its actually spelled Güdentight though. This method has always worked for me as well... tighten them all down, then go around again and make sure they are all still tight.

apparently 45lbs is too much. i torqued 6 studs, the 7th broke... went down to 38 it was good for the last one.... now i have a stud stuck in the head. anyone know the part# for the studs? or how to get the old one out? I should probably make my own thread..

their is a stud remover basically its like a tap but you first drill into the stud with a drill smaller then the remover then you screw it in and then unscrew it. that usually works, i think sears hardware carries it.

i just did the whole hand tight feel.. it worked for me.
