exhaust manifold removal question

hey guys i recently bought a header and greddy e-manage and i am preparing for these new parts to come so tonight i unbolted all but 1 of my bolt to the head and my question is what is the metal tab that is inbetween the bolts connecting the turbo and the exhaust manifold it kinda looks like a gasket and i cant seem to fit a wrench or sockett on it any suggestions on taking this exhaust manifold off ? thanks

It's the lock plates, preventing from the nuts to loosen up and fall off. Result without those lock plates would be a huge boost leak there some day! Keep those there! It would be easier if you took the whole turbo assembly out with it.

Yes the easiest and maybe only way to seperate the turbo from the exhaust manifold is to take the manifold and turbo out as one, and then seperate the two.

so your saying take the whole turbo manifold and o2 houseing all out ? what bolts would need to be taken out to do this besides the ones i have off now

yes you have to take the manifold, turbo, and o2 dump (turbo elbow) out as one piece...to do this you have to take off all of the manifold bolts, take out your o2 sensor from the o2 dump and disconnect the o2 dump from the downpipe as well and you also have to disconnect your turbos water and oil lines.

if you are still using hard lines, you may want to consider replacing them with stainless lines now. It is not necessary, but when you are pulling all of these lines you'll understand why. Also in the future if you ever have to trouble shoot a turbo, or you plane on a n upgrade, it will make it 10 times easier... cost will be around 130 for new lines shipped.... EBAY is your friend.

after all day of working i finaly got it off took a couple hours i also drained the oil and coolant befor i did it also took out the koyo also put 2/3 greddy pullys on any one know to to get the alternator one off?
