Exhaust making weird noises

When I step out of my car I can hear this weird sound coming from my cat and exhaust....when i get under the car and i put my hnd near it i can feel air and it sounds real weird...is this en exhaust leak? also i can see this weird black stuff on my piping that wasnt there before could that be a really bad exhaust leak? thanx

If it's a pinging sound, it's most likely just the exhaust cooling down. My friends car does it really bad and it's funny *** hel*.

Nevermind, just realized you meant the noise is happening while the car is on. My bad.

does anybody know what this can be? it starts to smell now when i'm taking long drives.

exhaust leak .. replace the gaskets on the cat .. mine were so old they broke when i removed the cat ... the black stuff your seeing is carbon buildup ... also .. i know this post is a month old .. but just thought it share my opinion heh
