I just installed a new exhaust manifold/header. And there is a leak, it seems to be coming from between the manifold and the cat or rest of the exhaust. Is there a gasket that is supposed to go there?

any one have a blow up diagram of it?

No big rush, I would just like my car to sound nice for the ladies, they get scared when then hear my car, lmao.

Hey, congrats on the install. Their should be a gasket that connects the header to the cat and a gasket that goes from the cat to the midpipe. The header may have come with the gasket may not. Either way it needs it to seal the pipes. Their available at any parts store for around 3 bucks. Heres a shoddy pic to explain what I mean. Seal it up and youll be quiet in no time.

you shouldnt have to. you can just separate them and slide the gasket in.also, make sure to have some PB blaster handy. nothin like a few broken exoust bolts to ruin your day

it was the most expensive can at AZ. so i hoped it would work, i figured $4 to save my exhaust studs? y not? lol

that's the stuff i used to take off the old manifold, i didnt break a single one. so i would recommend it. haha.

well, if there is an exhaust leak, either u need a gasket, or u need to replace one , or atleast get down there to see it. i would assume there should be one. but dont quote me on that, i never ran a turbo.

I had to put two gaskets on one side of my cat to seal it up but it did the trick perfectly.

okay, so i went to kragen today, and asked for the part, and they gave me this one with only 2 bolt holes, like the one in that pic above.

however, the part that im trying to seal, is between the manifold (3 bolts) and the rest of the pipe.

is that how nissan designed it, or am i asking for the wrong part?

should i be getting a gasket with 3 holes instead of 2?

So it sounds like you have a 2 part headers. Do your new headers run down to your cat? If the gasket is between the 2 parts of your new headers you may need a new gasket from the manufacturer of the headers, as it'll be custom compared to the factory.

If that doesn't sound right, post up some pictures of the headers and where you think it's leaking from.

no, the stock header. it has 3 studs on it doesnt it? ill post sum pics by the end of this weekend to show u guys. untill then ill go asking around the parts stores to see wat they have.....and see if maybe there was some confusion at kragen.

but im thinking the gasket should look more like the "un-highlighted" one in that picture above, with 3 holes for the studs.
