exhaust leak

i smoked my exhaust system yesterday and found an exhaust leak in where my exhaust pipe flanges bolts together(just before my post cat), besides siliencing my exhaust should i see any improvment in my performance and/or fuel mileage? just curious about how that affected the variable capacity muffler.

Preformance and mileage will stay the same. It will be quieter though.
