so i finally fixed my exhaust leak after about six weeks if not more of driving around with it. The leak was between the mani and block. So i took off the mani last weekend and i found to my amazement that it was leaking literally from three ports. Two were really bad and one was so-so. So i sent it to my dad's machinist friend and he resurfaced the mani and cutted the flange. The flange is nearly half an inch thick so without the flange being cut, there is really no flex allowed for the mani when it heats up which would just cause the warping to occur again. So i bolted that back up this past weekend and i finally have the car feeling like it shouldve at first. I must also say that the exhaust leak was my cause of violent backfiring. I have yet to get any serious backfiring since the leak has been fixed but we will see. The other good benefit is my spool. I didnt have lag before but now i really really dont have lag. The turbo really gets to full boost in less than any 700 rpm increment (except from idle obviously) but it is ridiculous. My mpg has also now officially gone to the pits. It first got worse when i fixed the boost leak but now i can sometimes see the gauge move while in boost. I havent even cleared 200 miles and im already a little under quarter tank. o well, lol.
