car was running super strong for a couple days outside of my starting problem. then. my plugged egr hole in the header popped out and left me with a super loud nasty exhaust leak. i brought it home and used a 3-4 inch section of the egr tube that i crimped down to fix the leak. i tried to start it again and it wouldn't. i pumped the gas and tried again, it started but with a loud metal tapping sound and really really rough idle plus the whole car was shaking. after 20 seconds or so on the gas it made some funny noises then started to idle perfectly. i drove it to work just fine with a tiny bit of car shaking. on the way home it was back to being super rough and i had to heal toe crazy drive just to keep it running in neutral but i got home and now i'm lost. o2 sensors good now, i knocked it out when re-plugging header, and theres a ground wire on the back of the motor that had some copper freying out a little, but i fixed that to no avail. same problem only i broke a spark plug wire when i was about to do a compression test. any advice? other then sell this piece sorry for so many posts but it seems like everything is broken

does this meen i'm pullin the head again? the floating thin that the little disk sits on has no resistance and just falls down, opening the valve i think. how could the exhaust leak have done this, or did the machine shop i had the head rebuilt at screw something up.

crap dude, that is odd. i would talk to that head shop, that disk (shim) should not be floating around freely in your head, and a piece of metal definatly should not be there in the engine, for obvious reasons.

Yea that screw went through the engine from the intake side likely or it was laft in the cyl during head install [you would have heard this on start up, it woulda sounded like a rod gave out] That screw either was in the intake or the cyl during the repair. Can you get a better picture of the screw out of the valve. I mey be able to determine where it came from.

Looking at it again that Screw never made it into the chamber, thats where it stopped so it had to have come from in the intake manifold. Get a better more focused picture of the screw out of the head.

it looks like one of the screws that hold down the fuel lines onto the intake mani. but all those are in, thats what the screw looks like anyhow.i'm bringin the head to the shop on monday, and i'll put it all back together next weekend along with a bunch of extra crap i sprung for.i bailed on my turbo plan, so i have lots of extra money for other stuff
