when i bought my s13 hatch the exhaust was completely rusted out. i've replaced it with 2.25in. piping and an apex-i dual n1 knock off w/silencers. no cat. anyway the crap is insanely loud and frankly i'm getting annoyed. its sounds like i'm trying to dip but i'm actually just driving normal. my question is if i were to install a resonator or two, would it quiet the **** down? also does getting the $550 "real" exhaust make a big difference in sound quality? oh, the "real" apex-i dual n1 comes with dual pipes from the "cat". they're supposedly 2.5 in. each. 5 inches in total. this seems like too much to me. they say it produces better top end. does anyone know anything about this? thanks

a resonator will definitly help. I think most aftermarket 240sx exhaust systems come with a resonator (HKS, apexi, espelir, blitz)If you wanted to save a little money, you couls get a BRM aluminized (not stainless steel) with a huge resonator on it. Everyone who has a BRM exhaust loves it, and the dual tips look awesome too. here is the thread with all the info zerothread?id=48608

Easy solution, get a junker cat and stick it on, it'll quiet your ride down a bit.

Apexi N1 Duals? I had them on my SR20 powered S13, I hated them. Extra weight, stupid bling factor and an overall waste of money. In the end, I wound up with a BRM single can, and its the single best exhaust for the cash required. Tough as nails too.

It starts from the cat as one pipe. It splits into two after the resonator, just before the rear axle. I agree, no need for a true dual exhaust on a 4 cyl.

I like the look of the dual canisters because the stock 240 exhaust has two tips.

first of all NOT that heavy comapred to a "non-dual" and its def lighter than stock

and a Dual exhaust doesnt mean a muffler on each side

on another note id say somthing as small as a 14" resonator would do justice

Actually dual exhaust does mean a muffler on each side, a dual tipped exhaust means 2 tips one muffler, same as the stock 240s.

dual exhausts just screems ricer on a four banger be it true dual or axle back. a 3 inch exhaust is more then enough for our cars. no need to make it all rice and even a little bit heavier just so one could pretend he / she has a v8 and run 2 mufflers our of the back.

you obviously dont know what youre talking about. try looking at the apexi n1 dual before you make any assumptions about it. it is a dual exhaust, but both canisters are on the same side. look in the thread titled "post your s13 exhaust" and youll se what i mean.

Of course, you should only buy one brand of exhaust...BRM

http://www.brmusa.com

best sounding, inexpensive, NICO friendly company out there!

well that is the first time i have seen that, either way i still have unwaivering love for single canister/muffer exhausts, and think duals are gay.
