i was out in the parking lot just practicing 1st gear.. and while i was about 75% thru the night, i sense something is weird with the car..

so i make fwe more practice drives.. and iam about to head back home, but the car hesistates at ~1000-1350 rpm range?.. the rpm seems like it is rising in clicks.. almost by 100 at a time, and the car is shaking when i gas it thorugh those rpm range.. the exhaust sound (the car came with an aftermarket exhaust) pulses..

what are these symptoms of? anyone know?? it would be greatly appreciated if anyone can give any sort of advice on what to do..

this being my first car, i am a bit nervous as to what i might've done wrong while i was shifting.. i stalled exactly 2 times while practicing and 3 times while i was trying to get out of the parking lot.. total of 5

any help would be appreciated, thanks!

just found this thread.. but how do i find out which inj. might be wrong?zerothread?id=120395

i wonder if that is my case?.. i hope its beginner-able work..

update : just went out and smelled the exhaust.. smells like raw fuel but i had to put my nose RIGHT infront of the exhaust to smell it and when i start the car.. it looks like it wants to just die out.. even if i hold the clutch down

2a)smells like fuel and cranks kind of funny? may be flooded. hold gas pedal down and crank for a long time.
how do i go about doing this on a 5spd? hold clutch, gas(wot?) and turn key over and hold it there for long time?and could this affect my engine in a negative way if its not flooded..?

now the symptoms occur at around ~2300-2500 and 3200~3500 rpms.. ahh! the lower rpm range vibration/exhaust pulse/rpm clicks subsided a little..

Do the cheap stuff first. I'd say clean the MAF sensor first and go from there. Try searching "240sx MAF"...

so.. i went to the car wash and vaccumed.. it was fine till there.

i was driving back, stopped to practice a little..and again, when i stalled like 3 times, it started doing it again..

it does this when i stall, my best guess is that the gas is being dumped in the cylinder and not being burnt when i stall, or could be that im running rich.. because my exhaust smells like **** (unburnt fuel, also a disgusting smell you get with commercial diesel trucks)

im sleeping on it again and going to see what happens, anyone help would be appreciated

well.. looks like i got another problem..

iacv/aac seems to be messed up, i was wondering if i can replace this by myself, i spotted where it is.. but its so hard to reach in there! and is it mandatory to remove the intake manifold to get to it.. or can i just squeeze my hand in there and remove it? i also heard some people say i dont really have to replace it but rather block it off with anything

any help would be appreciated.my car started to run like crap after i stalled a few times.. and now its not even running,

Change the oil and jack up the car, with the filter off, it gets a lot easier to get to. Now if it were me, I would drain the coolant, pick up an intake manifold gasket, and drop the top part of the manifold. Then you can do it with just a 1/4" set.
