Exhaust Installation Problem

I got a new catback system from ebay for my 92 240sx and when I tried to put it on, I found the diameter of the pipe is bigger than the pipe from the catalyst converter. So what should I do now?

Should I take out the catalst converter and buy another "test pipe" and use it as an adapter to put the new catback on my car? Please give me some opinions.

If you don't want/need the catalytic converter take it to an exhaust shop and have them weld up a pipe (instead of buying a test pipe unless you wanted to) that has the right diameter pipe on both ends. I think that would be cheaper than buying a test pipe, plus i dont know if you can specify pipe size for the entry/exit on the test pipes you buy?

yah take it to a shop and get that mug welded. i dont think anybody carries test pipes with different diameters for entry and exit

I see. So, did I buy a wrong exhaust from eBay ?

should of checked the inlet for the exhaust you bought and made sure it fit the outlet on the cat. you could post that for sale somewhere and get a new one that fits.. thats what id do. its probably universal so id sell it anywhere. good luck.

what size is your exaust because i bought a used apexi n1 which is 3in and it bolted up 2 my stock cat u have to get the oem cat gaskets because they are thicker but if ur going to get a pipe welded on u might as well get a test pipe just because i u deside 2 get a header u can bolt it on and they wont fail it if u take it through inspection heres a pic of my test pipe got it 4 20 bucks on ebay
