i just got a used catback. The guy i got it from said that i need an exhaust gasket, i didnt question it because the guy knew his stuff. Then i asked my girlfriends brother if he could get me one at work, and he said lemme look at it and told me i didnt need one. DO I? Now if i do need one i need to go and order it. Can i get the exact name of the type of gasket. i know the inlet for the catcak is 3". i figured they would know at autozone but that was no help. if it helps at all its an"ssac" ssautochrome. lol

take it to a different place than autozone..

Its just a 3" exhaust gasket you can replace it if its to worn out.

Its the little piece between where your exhaust meets between 2 pipes

Did you get it in 2 pieces or one? If it's in 1 piece you'll only need one gasket, if it's in 2 you need 2 gaskets. You need the gasket where the catback connects to the cat. You could always just get some hightemp copper silicon liquid gasket and use that, but I like regular gaskets better

i know i was like: I just need a gasket for the cat and the catback and the guy looked at me like i had four heads. then told me that its not a common part to carry in stock so i would have to order it. i pretty much know i need one because i can hear what sound like backfires. I was just confused that someone that knows so much about cars told me one thing and then another person who is no pushover when it comes to "car nohow" said something else.

In all honesty dont listen to much the employees at autozone tell you .

SO far ive had one guy at auto zone tell me right to my face that the ford 302 engine does not have a water pump. Then there was another guy up there that told my sister that her car dident use a thermostat.

so obviously you cant really take what they say all that serously.

bwahahaha, I ask them questions I already know the answers to, so I can see what they know. the only one that has any sort of good input is the girl that works at the autozone near me.

lol what are you doing up hahaha, I kid Noticed a new guy working there walked over and B.S.'s with me while I was putting a new headlight bulb in. I busted it when I hit a deer, the housing was fine just the bulb got a good jolt. He wanted to know why I didn't have snow tires on my front wheels. Said I don't run any let alone wouldn't put them on the front if its RWD. Didn't believe me so I backed the car up onto the parking barrier thing and pointed out the diff and driveshaft. I would have thought of all people, I would at least know more about my car than anyone.

yah i dunno. im fairly clueless but i mean D@mn. so ive come to the conclusion that the gasket is just called "the gasket between the cat and the rest of the exhaust back. or is there a more specific name. thats kinda what i wanted to know.
