When driving with the window down i get gassed out by the smell of exhaust gas. Im not running rich(14.0-15.1) and no exhaust/gas leak that i know of. i have looked and found no leak of any kind. I dont know where else to look and it has been happening for several years now and im getting real tired of it. I have no A/C so during the summer it gets REAL aggervating. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!Thanks!

Not familuar wiht yoru set up but here are some generic/old school things to help you find the problem.

If you are smelling gas then it has to come from somplace. Most likely your gas milage is less than what it should be. Things to check:

Fuel lines. Not just the feed lines but also the return lines. Check them all the way from the tank to the injectors and back to the tank again.

Fuel tank access for fuel pump gasket bad.

If not the above, then check the exaust. If you can put the car on jackstands both frount and rear. start the car and then CAREFULLY look / feel along the entire exaust system. pay close attention to any joint or connection.

Don't forget to check things like the exaust tube that feed the EGR valve (if your set up has one)

Most likly you will find a small leak some place that is hard to find.

Don't forget to check things like vapor canistors and other emission stuff (if your car has it. or if it has been removed then verify that any needed plugs or blocking plates are in place.

Hopr this helps.

get a spray bottle fill it with half dishwashing soap and half water..shake till its mixed...now start the car (CAN ONLY BE DONE COLD!) and use this solution to look for leeks in your exaust system..what you will see is bubles large or like foaming from the place its leaking from..you can check all around the engine bay this way and not effect anything..do this while the engine is cold or it will just burn off...this is a trick used by most natural gas co0mpanys to look for leeking pipes under low pressure..good luck.
