Does anyone know of a good quiet cat back for an s13? I really don't want my car to sound uber ricey. My friend suggested I get an Apexi N-1 or GT-Spec. Does anyone know how loud/ricey they are?

I don't know much about the GT-Spec, but the Apexi N1 isn't quiet or ricey. It's a fairly loud system as are most setups with stright-thru mufflers. And if you buy a true Apexi system, it will cost a pretty penny.

so the N1 is loud but not ricey. thats good to know.

and to my knowledge the gt spec is almost exactly the same as the n1 just with a bigger coffee can on the back.

GT spec tapers from small to big... not sure on exact measurements but I think it is something like 70mm-85mm or something like that... pretty big for a NA motor, but good for a turbo

Check out Fujitsubo (db increase and power increase is displayed per application) for a quiet system that will open things up a bit on a NA car.

BRM should be able to set you up with whatever you need. not ricey at all ,although i would recommend a resonator unless you are semi retarded like me

the n1 exhaust is 3" piping and is a 2 or 3 piece system. The Gt Spec is 94mm(3.75") iirc and is a one piece exhaust meaning minimal flanges and welds. But yeah, the BRM is a very nice exhaust, or if you're looking for quiet try the RS*R Ex Mag or the 5zigen Border III.

i have allready had the 2.5" brm on my car since about 2 weeks after i posted this thread and so far its really the only non-uber ricey exhaust i have heard. its a little loud (esp. since i just gutted my rear interior) but its all good. it def. adds a bit to the mid - upper rpm range power w/o any noticable low end torque loss.
