I was going to grab a cat off ebay because mine is rotted, I have seen an auction for a hi flo for about 40 US.

I was going to stay with my stock exhaust piping size, but it needs to be replaced.

So here it goes:

1. should i completely remove the resonator or get an inline bullet muffler of some sort, something with i guess a 2 inch inlet and outlet?

2. someone link me to a cheap but fairly good flowable muffler on ebay, it can not be an expensive piece. 40-60 US for the muffler I guess is good enough. (i'm trying to find a link for this company that made oem type mufflers, someone on this board told me to get one from there)

3. would the setup be ok with the pipe running back to the muffler from the cat with no resonator/inline bullet muffler? or will i get the droney buzzy sound....

archives haven't turned up much for me yet....well what i'm looking for that is.

thanks guys!

most likely it'll sound like crap unless you upgrade the piping size. My friend has 2.5" cat-back to one of those cheap dtm ebay mufflers on his '89 coupe and it sounds nice and deep. I on the other hand like the soun dof a 2.5" mandrel back to a flowmaster 40 series muffler. Not too loud, but not something that doesn't make any noise either. Make sure you get atleast 2 1/4" if you get mandrel 2.5" if you get crushed bent exhaust piping.

no more takers? jsut the one opinion?

how can i tell if i have the split system or the welded system on my 240sx.

The welded system has the muffler attached, but I think my muffler had been changed before.

I can get the split system, which is basically the piping and is specifically done for my car, for 36 bucks Canadian, the welded that has the muffler attached is 132...
