Hey guys, I have a quick question. I have a 96 i30 and i noticed it was sounding louder. SO i brought to the local mechanic and he says it looks like my engine pipe need to be replaced. I believe he said its the pipe that comes out of the engine to first part of the exhaust system. Do any of you know how difficult and/or expensive this is to replace? Thanks!

I assume the mechanic was referring to the headers?

Did he say exactly what was wrong?

It's possible that some studs could have broken or come loose which could make things a bit louder.

I'm not sure on price as I've never had headers removed or installed on my car. Due to the orientation of the engine, headers have to be done from beneath the car. It can be done in the driveway, but a shop with a lift makes it easier.
