just wondering, has anyone put chrome exhaust ends on a first gen Q and if so, how'd they look???? honestly, i'm not going for the "pimp daddy" look or anything, and not looking for anything too flashy, just thought it might dress up the rear end. brands, sizes to look for, opinions??? like i said, just wondering. jeff

I have 'em.... My stock stainless ones got dmaged (high curb) and I replaced with the slash-cut 2" "Pep Boys Specials"....

However, I've just ordered a set of rolled-edge 2.5" tips that are a more squarish design, to fill up the cutout a little better.

I put a set of 3" tips on my wife's I30t, which I got from J C Whitney. They look prety cool. They are at AutoZone and Advance Auto, for about $16.00 to $24.00 each. Bolt on. They have some cool 4"ers, but I think you ahve to have a neon light under your bumper, in order to get them:cool:

I have....errr....had 2 3" diameter stainless steel weld-on DTM style tips and they looked great on a slammed car such as my 1st gen Q45. One shot off my car when I went up a steep driveway into an Safeway parking lot. Shot off straight into traffic. :( So I've been driving around with only 1 tip. It looks gimpy...but I'm not gonna do anything with it until I get my stainless steel dual-in dual-out DynoMax muffer. Heck...I may just end out putting the same style tips back on. :D

Quote »they look good, but I only expect maybe 3 years of service out of them...[/quote]Yea, I have to keep paint on the inside of mine. The outside is stainless, but the inside is a perforated steel, with glass packed between the layers. Moisture from the exhaust condensation is causing rust. Rust kinda defeats the impact of having a big stainless exhasut tip.

Well since the stock muffler is as free-flow as you can get....there really isn't any improvement performance wise. I'm getting it because 1....it will look just damned spiffy and 2....I want a muscular exhaust tone. Oh....and there is also a hole in my muffer and its causing it to rust. Sure the hole makes it sound beefy when ya stomp on the gas....but it just not right to me. I can get the muffler from G.I. Joes (sports and automotive store in the northwest) for $168.....but I think I can get it cheaper than that.

Well there are 3 mufflers that would work, but they all have different pipe diameters. They are as follows...

Model - 17276 Ultra Flo SS: dual-in/dual-out, 2-1/2" pipe diameterModel - 17280 Ultra Flo SS: dual-in/dual-out, 2-1/4" pipe diameterBoth of these models are 25" in length

Model - 17231 Ultra Flo SS: dual-in/dual-out, 2-1/2" pipe diameterThis model is 19" in length

I don't know the stock Q45 exhaust pipe size, but a reducer or expander could be used to correct an off size. Any recommendations would be helpful. Oh....and I'm guessing the exhaust tone would be more that of a Mustang GT.

Go to an auto shop and see what you like... I have $8 pep boys exhaust tips which slope at a 45 degree angle (longer part on top), and I think they look quite classy.

just got mine from autozone. the rolled edge stainless steel with slight angel. not sure if i love them just yet. i guess i'm not used to seeing anything take away from the rear end. my buddy who was there when i put them on likes them though. i have to let them sink in for a few days. jeff

just so i know exactly what i'm thinking of, the dynomax that we're describing is the resonantor all the way back, not either of the two mufflers before it? if there are two seperate mufflers further up, why the need for a third(seperator)? does the resonator(dynomax) really change the tone that much?? what model is the prefered, noticed there is two sizes???? jeff
