Hey Guys, I just got an exhaust made for my car, starting where the cat was its 2.5 to the 22" resonator then 2.5 all the way back, except for the last two bends are press bent so its like 2.3 in around the bends and goes into the magnaflow muffler. My problem is that when accelerating it sounds good until it starts to crackle from like 4,200 rpm and up. Any suggestions as to why? Also I have the stock headers. Thanks

Is your motor detonating?

Not sure, how do I go about finding that out?

I just did the same thing as you. I have a '90 240 with the KA24E and put a custom bent and welded 2.5" exhaust from where the header comes together into one. I removed the CAT and put a carbon fiber JCW Muffler on. I get the popping noise especially when it is just started up and when I give it heavy throttle past about 3100rpms. I don't think that detonation is the problem. Detonation is where the gas explodes before TDC or before when the spark is fired. I think that it is because we removed the CAT and that is causing un-burnt gas to explode in the piping. Usually that would probably only happen at the tip or close to it because of the oxygen. I think that more gas than can be burnt is being poured through it so the last place it can detonate is the exhaust piping. I am no pro so if anyone knows the 100% true answer than feel free to correct me. I think that I am going to try putting a high flow race CAT on and see what happens.

Haha Nice! S2000's are sweet, except that doesn't help at all. But thanks for the laugh.
