So im starting this thread for all those people who dont have an aftermarket exhaust yet but want to get one.I want to know from the guys who have had experiance with the following companies.

Nismo-Greddy (ti-C, Evo2)Stillen-Tanabe-Borla-

Which exhausts provide the most horsepower? which of them are the loudest? etc. Please compare people!

I like the way this thread is heading. Keep the pictures coming!Do you guys mind posting up your links for the exhaust sound in cabin/outside if you have em? That would be great!

Still waiting for the nismo exhaust!

Great thread idea.

I have the Stillen Cat-back. Absolutely love the sound. Has a nice deep tone to it. From the cabin its loudest between 2000-3000 then drops off quietly. Not overboard at all. Quiet at idle. Semi mild sounding after broken in but still evident that the car is not stock.

Borla- Throaty sound at all RPM ranges. Sound directly compliments the exact RPM measure. 1-3k a low rumble. 3-4.5k a humming G35 type sound. 4.5k-6k a WOT race type G35 type sound. Great exhaust in build quality and sound. Everything you could ask for in an exhaust including performance feel. Upgrades exhaust pipe diameter from 2 1/4 inch to 2 1/2 inch. Also mounts a single horizontally placed muffler with 2 tips.

I HAVE BEEN HEARING GOOD THINGS ABOUT THE STILLEN CAT-BACK BUT I want something a little more OBNOXIOUS SOUNDING. MY FRIEND HAS AN SE-R AND THINKS I SHOULD GO WITH THE GREDDY EVO2 - ANY OPINIONS?

BTW I HAVE A 2007 ALTIMA SEDAN V6

By obnoxious…. do you mean ricy? J/K

I've seriously never heard a Greddy Evo on anything and liked the sound that came from it, not exactly ricy but always has a bit of rasp. Then again, I'd like to think the VQ isn't capable of rice.

Hahhahaah well being from HOWARD BEACH, and wanting a loud car... what a coincidence lol... (howard beach is where gotti got it all started for those who dont know)... You can get one of those N1 mufflers if you want something obnoxiously loud... or just cut a hole in your muffler lol

OK, answering my own question i think. someone correct me if I'm wrong...

The sedan cat-back has what are called "reverse cone slash cut" tips.

The coupes have whatever's going on in shift_coupe's pics....

Sound about right?

Are you talking about the muffler tips thickness? From looking at the picture you linked. The tips are thicker looking with a smaller diameter inside. But its hard to tell from that angle instead of straight on.

The tips have never changed...They are identical on all of the Altima's. Maybe the angle is throwing off the appearance a little bit.

I'm pretty sure these tips...[IMG][/IMG]

...and these tips...[IMG][/IMG]

are not the same, regarless of angle.

Also Look at these youtube vids of sedan stillen tips...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfIB8lmr ... ?v...lated

none of those is the stubby tips seen in that first picture, especially at the end of that second and last video you can see how long those tips are.

Plus, I swear i didnt just make up "reverse cone slash cut". It's in the Stillen catalog.

I have to say. Tanabe hit the nail on the head. Out of the 4 I've heard (tanabe.. nismo.. stillen.. borla) tanabe has the perfect sound imo.

All,

Just installed the Stillen Cat Back today, sound is excellent, deep and throaty at 1-3k, calms down between 3-5k, at WOT = Racing Engine sound.

Very happy, not ricey, and alignment was easy...

Two cents, thanks Stillen for a good product.

I agree, plus it's not too loud. Question is, where can we order it from at a decent price?

I personally can't wait for the Greddy kits to come out. If it sounds anything like the 350z does with them, it will be sweet.

Go to Tanabe's website and look for a authorized local dealer. You can preorder them. They should be arriving in May from Japan.

They didn't test fit it on a 2.5, so I wouldn't know. Could someone take a picture of a 2.5 axleback from the bottom of the car and email it to me please.

I'm still at work, so when I get the chance to take a picture, I'll send it over. I am willing to volunteer my car for R&D.

If no one else cares i'll shut up about it but, Kyle, the subject of the muffler tips I think was never settled. Any final thought with regard to those pics and videos I posted? I want to get the stillen exhaust for my sedan but i want the tips i've seen in the videos and not the stubby ones. I'd just like a definite answer before I place my order.

But you can easily build a cat back for another $70 more at an muffler shop

LinkNuc wrote:The system for the Altima Coupe is an axle back. When we made the cat back system there was not any difference in performance. So, we opted for a rear section only. The cost posted on the web at the time of your email was wrong. The actual price is $799.99. The web has been corrected. Sorry for the confusion.

Is that really true? Maybe thats why Tanabe wasn't doing a full catback either.

They did the R&D, I would believe them. I don't really see a 4 foot section of pipe, increased by a 1/4 of an inch, really having that much effect on flow. The muffler is the biggest thing.

Thats what I thought.

I am thinking of dyno-ing my car before I get the GReddy exhaust. Then dyno after to see how much performance gains. Just need some $$ to do it. I am so broke after special ordering the volk wheels lol.
