Ok, I've spent slot of time reading threads about exhaust choices for our cars and I'm stuck on what I want to get. First of all I want to gain as much power as I can out of an exhaust without some obnoxious ricer sound. I don't really want it to be loud but just more of a low deep growl that comes alive at WOT.

Here is what I am thinking: 1. Headers (maybe DC sports) 2. Test pipe to replace Cats 3. Some generic Y pipe 4. Megan mid pipe 5. And I'm undecided on the mufflers to get .....maybe magniflow, Megan, I don't really know.

I really don't want that raspy sound!!! What do you guys think????

Also on a side question: I wonder how it would sound if I just had a custom pipe/pipes made to bypass the the entire "Y" and had straight back full dual pipes with a "cross pipe" or "H" pipe just to make it sound good.

I wish there were before and after dyne results with the exhaust upgrades. I really want more power out of this car (I know I should have got an m45) and am hoping I will feel a big difference especially on the top end with this upgrade. I know with Hondas putting Headers on made such a huge improvement on the top end, I just hope the M is like that.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

if you just want sound -- then many of the axle back set ups will free up the exhaust more than stock.

if you want more power, then get your car tuned with Uprev and start from there...

Uprev + Exhaust is a good start. it'll let you know how much louder you really want to go...if it doesn't satisfy you, then increase the diameter of the mid pipes...and so on.

not sure if you checked out some of my vids...Megan mids/axle (pre and post HFC's) check my posts...

hope this helps....

i kept a plenum spacer and hfc with custom Y pipe in my M, and felt a difference without tune.

DC Sport headers really make a difference in 03-06 350z so i think they will also make a difference in our Ms

about mid-pipe i though of changing it with 370z stock mid-pipe and modify it
