Ok so, I recent got my car back up and running after installing: Custom Short Ram Intake, 248/248 Dual Exhaust Cams, OBX Header, Magnaflow High Flow Cat, BRM 2.5" Dual Tip Cat-Back Exhaust System w/ 22" Resonator, and some Poly Engine Mounts. Now my car is WAY too loud... I contribute some of the interior cabin noise/vibration to the motor mounts (which I plan on going back to stock or NISMO), but aside from that it seems WAY too loud inside and out.

So my questions are:
Any possible methods of quieting it down a bit?
Can I insulate my pipes with fiberglass or something?
Also, inside the car, it seriously sounds like I am running a bass test CD with dual 12" subs while I am driving... it's kind of embarrassing not to mention probably damaging to the elderly with heart conditions...

I plan on making some custom silencers as a temporary solution, but I would like to be able to run without them. I am almost tempted to swap the stock header back in to quiet it down a bit. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I don't live in the city, but the cops here still profile a little bit.

hmmmmmm.... the only real solution i can see here is to change out the headers or exhaust... other than that, silencers are your best bet imo.

any possibility that a part of your exhaust is rubing against your car. That can sometimes make some crazy noises in the cabin.

Try using some sound deadening. My car, just with the addition of the sound deadening in the trunk area (hatch) is MUCH quieter now. And I still have a stripped interior with no backseats/carpet/or panels.

You can get 50 square feet of Fatmat (Dynamat knockoff) for like $70 on Ebay. That leaves you plenty to do the hatch area and then some.

Please don't use a silencer on the exhaust. That completely defeats the purpose of upgrading your exhaust at all....

I had insane cabin exhaust noise after getting my exhaust.
Laying down sound deadening in the trunk made it muchhhhhhh much quieter.

No it's not hitting the car at all, it is just plain loud. I kind of want to see if I can throw on ANOTHER resonator somewhere, lol. Anyone know of any good short good flowing mufflers I can throw on to try and mellow things down a little? Kind of like the size of the stock pre-muffler/resonator... As for sounds deadening, I would like to do that eventually, but first I need to reduce the sound in general. I am kind of a cop electromagnet at the moment.

So I found the largest resonator that will fit in the remaining pipes. I have another questions though... I know that resonators primary function is to change the exhaust tone and eliminate drone, but does it actually reduce decibels?

Here is the resonator options I am looking at:
http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/shop/ ... ts_id=4361
OR
http://www.amazon.com/Vibrant-1792-Bott ... B000E3VHVO

Which would you recommend? I have my eye on the Flowmaster because of it's larger core size, but the price of the Vibrant is very tempting, although I am worried about it's actual noise dampening effect.

Don't mess around with another resonator.

Seriously, just get some sound deadening. It's cheaper and more effective.

As for how loud it is outside the car, you're on your own there.

Well I can deal with the interior noise temporarily, I just don't want to be a cop magnet. I'll probably go with the Flowmaster though, I like quieter performance... well quieter than what I currently have, haha!

Edit: I actually decided to go with Vibrant, due to the fact that the Flowmaster uses a very bad flowing design and the Vibrant is much cheaper. Hopefully it should reduce my volume to a more tolerable level.

your best bet would be to dynamat (or equivalent brand) the rear hatch area (including spare tire area) then remove the side interior panels in the back seat area, dynamat the backside of the panel, as well as the chassis itself. if u wanna get all crazy u can do the front doors but most of my noise was coming from my dual N1 echoing like crazy in the hatch area.
