Hi Guys,I am so confuse. What is the difference between the Axle-back ($507.71) and the Cat-back ($778.00) systems? I was about to purchase the axle-back system and the injen intake until i saw the cat-back system. Please help me out on this one guys. Also, what is the power (HP) difference between a axle-back and a cat-back and do they sound the same as well? This is for a 3.5 coupe. Also, i noticed that Stillen came out with their own intake for $229, will that work better with their exhaust than it would with the injen?

Thanks,

Tony

Disclaimer: I'm just a n00b here but here's what i've learned from folks here. The catback replaces the entire exhaust all the way from the catalyst converter while the axle back is essentially the mufflers. The differences supposedly the catback should be a bit more power than axle back because you're opening up the pipe further back. Regarding the intake, it should be up to you as an intake just increase air flow compared to the stock airbox.

from what I have gathered, (note I am a car n00b), the a cat-back is from the catalytic converter and back, the axle back, is just the muffler and back. The cat-back should be provide better performance and a better sound.

oh Johhny D beat me to it.

Hi (johnny_d),I noticed that you installed both the injen and the cat-back, did you have any problems with the car and did you noticed the difference? What were the pro's and con's on the setup that you have now?

Thanks,Tony

Yup these guys got it right. An axle back is essentially for sound. It does provide an increase in horsepower because the stock muffler baffles air flow a lot. A cat back is going to provide the most power. Like they said, it attaches from the catalytic converter all the way back. It and increase of maybe 1-2 horsepower over an axle back. So all in all unless your going for raw performance, an axle back is the way to go.

Stillens intake its going to work just as good as the Injen because the airflow pattern is exactly the same. You can only suck in so much air. Both Stillen and Injen have the technology built into their perspective intakes to capture power at the fullest extent.

There's really shouldnt be much problem with the different intake/exhaust combo. I noticed a nicer sound with the intake and with the exhaust there's definitely noticable power gain and you don't hear the intake as much.

I have both the Injen and the Stillen Cat-back on my 3.5 and I notice the difference right off the bat. I have about 2K on the exhaust now and it has a low grumble to it. But when you step on it, you can hear / feel the power!
