I must have the worst luck with clutches. I am the original owner of my 90 S13. Have a header, intake, computer upgrade with performance chip, cat-back.

I just put a new Jasper KA in 9 months ago. I know I should have going with the SR20 (LONG STORY). Anyway, I had a ACT HP clutch that failed with not even 2000 miles (Throw out burned up). The pedal on the ACT felt a little harder then OEM. I had an ACT extreme and that was way to hard. I have a bad back & it is hard for me to press in the clutch. I was going to get another ACT but I went with an Exedy Stage 1. I got the car back & I was shocked at the pedal, it felt almost as hard as the extreme ACT. The clutch had a little free-play and needs to be adjusted but I really do not think that will help. I thought Exedy Stage 1 felt just a tad bit harder then stock but this one is ridicules.

I had the factory Flywheel turned, system is bleed from slave. I still have the damper & wanted to do the removal mod but that would only make the pedal harder.

Do you think it just needs time to break in and it will get softer? Any suggestions?I have used a Centerfource 90% over stock clamping & also a 60% and they both were softer then this crazy thing.

THANKS FOR ANY ADVICE!!

cant really offer too much insight in the situation, but i have an exedy stage 1 also, and truthfully, it is only a little bit stiffer than stock so hopefully someone more knowledgable can chime in and diagnose this for you. just thought id let you know what its supposed to feel like

I forgot to say that I went to the shop for a test ride & the clutch did feel light for maybe 30% of the time to depress it. Then it started to get very hard when I would press it all the way down to the floor. Like the 1st part pushing down was easy till it got to a certain point & then it got very very hard. I only drove it for a few blocks and they said they were going to adjust the pedal. Does that mean anything being soft for a little travel?T H A N K S

My exedy stage 2 is very light.

I'd make sure the shop that did the work replaced the throw out bearing.

Throwout band pilot bearings should've come with the clutch kit.

Yes they changed it because the one that was in my ACT HD broke down. I cannot win with clutches. The pedal feels like it did right before the ACT went out - very hard.C R A P. Could I have a problem with my transmission? It has 200,000 miles on it & when I 1st got the car back with the new motor I would hear like a whining sound and would go away only when the clutch was depressed. I still here that sound but it is not so loud & when I took it out it made the reverse sound in every gear but about 20% of that weird sound all trans make in reverse. I bet the problem is somewhere in the transmission.T H A N K S

before dropping the transmission for replacement. check out the clutch master and slave cylinders. replacing those is 1/16th the price of a tranmission. I'd check those first, and then look at the transmission.

The reverse always makes a sound, it's straight cut, no synchros on it.

If the the car is making a whining sound with the clutch pedal up and it goes away, it could be the throw out bearing...BTW, I have an Excedy stage II and it feels a little stiffer than stock...

It makes the whining sound in reverse cause the gears are spur gears not helical, but if you're getting that sound in 1,2,3,4, or 5 first thing you should do is drain and refill the trans with new fluid.

If it still makes the sound it's possible the trans might need replacing or a rebuild. And also my ka had the same problem with the noise when the pedal was not depressed and then it would go away when I depressed it. Never fixed it cause I swapped the motor, but I figured it was the TOB, but it's weird cause you had that replaced so.It's weird cause my clutchmasters stage 3 clutch pedal is very soft. When I first bled the system I thought something was wrong I was expecting it to be a hard pedal, but I've bled it several times and adjusted the hieght and I guess it's just really soft. So that could just be the way the clutch is too.
