Great question, Chuck. Evan has signed off for the weekend, but I'll ask him if he can pop back in and reply to a few more inquiries.

The CVT - towing thing actually makes sense, now that I've thought about it more and talked to a couple engineers. If you've ever had to deal with torque converters, they're the weak link in an auto-trans tow package... Plus, a CVT would maintain constant "tension" on the towing weight, rather than having a "disengage" every time you shift.

I know that chat is over but if you can try to get this answered I would appreciate it.

I just picked up my 2013 Pathfinder Platinum with premium package today and have some concerns.

1. After seeing all the ads and talking with Jonathan via your Facebook page I was excited for the Advanced Drivers Display. Jonathan confirmed with that the display would work similar to the one in the Altima and show caller id, radio info and nav infor ( when a turn is coming up). The owners manual states that as well, but there is no option to enable those features. Is there just a software issue? I talked to the dealer and tried on several other pathfinders at the dealer the advanced display and none of them functioned as advertised or what the owners manual states. In the owners manual ( MAIN Book) page 2-18 and 2-19 it states in the main menu selection you can enable are trip computer, audio, navigation, 4wd, fuel economy and tire pressure. Audio and Navigation are missing from the selection. There is no way to enable or disable them as they are not even listed. Is this a known issue? Does the software just need to be updated?

Other thing we thought was weird and potentially unsafe is when my wife sits in the passenger seat ( 5 foot 6, 118 lbs) the passenger side airbag is NOT activated. When I sit in it the light goes off. Are you able to check and see what the weight limit is. I thought they were normally around 85-100 lbs. Any help would be appreciated.

Milgrad, I spoke with Evan this morning. He recommended speaking with your dealer on both matters. Let us know what you find out.

I did talk to my dealer. Said airbag operation was normal but they had no idea on advanced drivers display. They tried several pathfinders again today and none of the options that the owners manual states. Needless to say I am upset and will be escalating to Nissan consumer affairs. If you don't mind can you check with Evan again regarding the advanced drivers display.

Welcome to NICOclub Milgrid! I just wanted to chime in on this. I guess I didn't realize that the Advanced Drivers Display (we will say ADD for short) on the Altima included the Navigation, Caller ID, and Radio Info. I have a 2013 Infiniti JX35 with the ADD, and mine does not have those options. I do have about a million different things I can program and set from the ADD, but not those 3 items. On the JX35 manual it works exactly as described in the manual. On the 2013 Pathy manual posted online, it only mentions "Navigation information (if so equipped)", not sure what information that is, but I didn't see anything mentioned of caller ID or radio info. All that info is on the regular larger screen, not sure why they would display it in two places.

Regarding the airbag:

"Federal regulations now require that the right front passenger airbag be automatically suppressed when a rear-facing child safety seat is installed in the right front passenger seating position, or modified when that seating position is occupied by a child or small adult under approximately 45 kg (102 lbs.). Armada and Titan are both equipped with an Occupant Classification System (OCS) to determine the weight of the right front passenger. This system may suppress or modify passenger airbag deployment depending on seat occupancy."

Considering not *all* of a person's weight is concentrated on the seat when sitting in a vehicle, it appears the airbag switch is working as designed.

A smaller person, in the event of a collision, is endangered by a deploying airbag - the seat belt was designed to fully restrain someone that size adequately in a collision.

I'd like to have a look at that section (ADD) of the manual.

The advanced display according to Nissan is supposed to shower caller I'd, radio info when you cage stations etc and fr navigation it it supposed to just come up when you are approaching a turn. My owners manual clearly states the ADD supports audio and navigation functions but on my vehicle they are missing.

The manual is page 2-18 and 2-19. In the main menu you can enable / disable different things. Navigation and Audio are listed in the manual but missing from my selection screen.

Online manual page 2-19 states audio and navigation can be enabled via the main menu but its not on the main menu in the vehicle.

I agree. I have the platinum with premium package so I have all available factory options so I wouldn't see why I shouldn't have those two features. I even talked with people at Nissan prior to purchasing who stated it had these options. Needless to say I will be escalating it up the chain at Nissan.
