Ok well i live in south jersey and after months of searching i found a decent 240. Its a 90 hatch but has a ka24de, has header, intake, exhaust, hood spacers, and is lowered on some kind of springs and struts. now to the bad... the previous owner told me that the car had problems with how it drove it wont go past 3500 rpms... i changed the plugs, oil, and fuel filter and that unfortunatly didnt fix the problem... all i can do is assume now that it needs to be tuned but im not sure so help out a fellow 240 owner and get his car running properly!! and sorry i dont have pics now but i will first thing in the a.m :)

Try unplugging the maf and see if its any different then plug it back in when the car is on. If nothing happens then its the maf.

sounds like its in limp mode. Did you run it without the maf plugged in or did you just skip to adding a different maf?

Honestly sounds something related to the MAF like everyone else has said. Check the wiring to the MAF from the ECU to see if that is bad. Other than that maybe vacuum leaks to the FPR? I dunno. Replace the O2 sensor?

Also, are you sure the DE ECU's MAF circuit is good? I once had a bad ECU and I had to take it to a shop to diagnose it.

I just skipped right into putting in a different maf. Im kinda leaning towards thinking its somthing to do with the wiring cus i doubt its the distributor my friend is swearing that it is though... and yeah the DE ECU was fine i took it from my friends car and put it into mine to see if that would help n it didnt just made it run worse if anything. It also snowed abit here in n.j so im going to take the pics later when im not feeling so lazy and want to clean my car off

I had the same exact thing happen to me, at idle my car would die, once i unplugged my maf it would idle fine. So i bought a another MAF and it still had the same problem. I was told it was the MAF plug itself, but i also had a blown headgasket.

I Still havent had time to figure what the problem is but yeah my car does idle kinda rough doesnt die though just acts like it wants to. Im thinking it may be with the wiring cus it looks kinda frayed. i wasnt to worried about it cus i was going to pick up a full rb20 swap for 1800 installation included but it wasnt as good as it seemed to be... but once i figure out what the problem is i will post it right away and do a quick snapshots of what my car looks like

oh yeah also forgot to mention that the car struggles to go above 3500 rpm but once it gets to about 4500 or so the car then continues to drive fine so idk if that could be another clue to have someone help
