My parents have a 1985 Nissan Maxima that they told me I can use for my first car (im 15), I am so excited to drive it. But lately I've found myself sitting in it day dreaming.

The problem with the car is its in horrible need of repair. The transmission went out on it about 4 or 5 years ago. So it was sitting behind our garage outside. So now it has horrible sun damage on the interier and it had a mouse infestation for a time, leaving hte seats in need of re-sewing.

So Ive been pestering my stepdad to buy the transmission (local junk yard offered us one for our wrecked Honda CRX) and get it put into the car. I told him I'd help him put it in and do any other mechanical things he would like me to do. Id like very much to start working on the interier, cleaning it, getting it comfy again. But it doesnt feel worth my time now, knowing its just sitting there waiting for it to get fixed.

Very excited to enter the world of cars, guess my pal Jesda started me on the path (He drives and Infiniti Q45, found this page because of him)

I'll post picture of the restoration process as I take them :D

Have fun with it. I'm sure you'll learn a lot about cars and have a great time. My dream is to actually have the time, skills and money to do a hardcore restoration on an old Z. Almost every old Datsun I've seen up here was held together by rust and sheer car willpower.

I saw a Datson driving on the road about 10 minutes ago, and like you said being held together by rust and car willpower. (a little duct tape too actually) :)

Yeah, and the interior is still comfy and smells decent now that you removed the rat poison and squirrel corpses!

I say get it repainted black, and add a lip spoiler and call it good.
