i just finished swapping the VG30DETT into my Z31 everything was running smoothly before i took it to a local off road shop to get all the intercooler piping done, when i got it back it was just pouring thick dark grey smoke at idle and opening up the throttle didn't help anything. then i realized the balance tube that goes across the top of the plenum wans't bolted down so i wasn't getting any vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator. i fixed that and i figured that would fix it, but i only got it to start once and it was still smoking like none other so i turned it off and checked all the electrical connections that could have been messed with when i was doing the intake and everything is plugged in. so i put in a new fuel filter and threw the other one across the room and tried to start it again, now it won't even fire at all (doesn't smoke though ). oh and the only code the ECU will give me is for the detonation sensor circuit. the fuel pump is new, and i'm getting flow from it to the engine, and the coil packs are firing and the spark plugs are brand new NGK iridium plugs (heat range 7)

Any ideas????

Knock sensor can be set off by a number of things. Mine was fuel injectors. Have you ohmed out the injectors? When you installed the fuel filter, did you install the rounded/angled side toward the firewall and the flat edge toward the front?
