ill give a short synopsis

on track my car dumps excessive amounts of transmission fluid from the vent tube. i re-routed the vent tube into my engine bay and ran a catchcan to actually see how much actually came out. in about 2 days around 6-8oz came out.

this ONLY happens on track. grip and drifting.

its a RB20 transmission with 2.5q of redline shockproof.

My guess is that the transmission is sloshing the fluid out so if there was a vent that looped around to the other side of the transmission it could drain back in.

that kinda aleviates the point of a vent tho. its meant to vent gasses that build up pressure in the case.

if you dont leave a vent it can blow seals from the pressures. espically with how hard i drive the car.

think its heating up enough to be expanding the fluid? just replace if it only happens on track.

i dobut its heating redline lightweight shockproof that much. the **** is like syrup. 75-140.

not ruling that out, but im the only one with this problem at the track.

i dont care if i have to run a catchcan on it, id just like to figure out why this is happening. internal problem? or design problem?

Have you ever checked to be sure it is at the correct level at the fill hole in the side of the transmission?

I think 2.5 qts is too much should be 2 qts for the transmission i think, i pissed some out too till it leveld off to the correct level, you can smell it spit it out too, haha

This is one of those things that makes me hate the internet. It's really difficult to maintain the clarity that you can have in a one on one conversation.

I know you should vent the transmission. The idea I have would still allow for a vent. The catchcan would have its little filter on the top. One line would lead to the top of the can to let the transmission vent air and some fluid, but at the bottom of the catchcan, there would be a line leading back to the transmission (with a check valve if you wanted) and it would allow the catch can to drain whenever it is physically possible. You'd really no longer have a catchcan but you would have a vent and a way to recover the fluid from your transmission.

and as for me overfilling, at one point back in march i lost so much fluid it was popping out of gear. added a half quart, no more.i dont think thats an overfilling problem.

I over filled my RB20 transmission with the shockproof heavy gear oil. I was spitting up some fluid for a little bit after I long drive. It hasn't done so in a long time Loves me some shockproof heavy gear oil.
