I want a good performance exhaust also but i dont care about sound. If its to loud i will turnup the radio. OOps thats the boost controller, turbo timer, and afc forgot no radio.

Really i think i will do 3" all the way no cat no muffler. Got to flow good.

ApexI GT Spec. 3.74 inch piping. Doesnt get much more 'flow' than that. Except for maybe... Disconnecting the cat.

This is truely amazing. Everytime someone asks a question on this board they are told to hit the Big Red Search button. Then, when someone brings up an exhaust question you are all happy to jump on and respond. What's the deal?

This topic has been covered soooo many times. Heck, the guy doesn't even say if he has an SR installed or not. Do you guys know something I don't?

I am making a custom exhaust based on the Greddy DD (or whatever it is called) I am gonna have a 3" pipe from the downpipe back, and then it will make the usual curve around the suspension stuff in back, at this point it will have a tight "y" in it that goes out to two 3" pipes that run parallel to each other at an angle out the back about a half inch apart. I am still deciding on what kind of cut I should put in the end of the pipes, any suggestions?

no cat + no resonator = loud but Efficient!

The JIC Bullet exhaust is awesome. Thus far (30 mins) I am very happy with it.

the_invisible is right, go with the Blitz. its sound is nice and the piping is plenty big enough. can't remember the site where I found the sound bite for it, but I will post it if I remember.

I'd say there is a big difference in time between having to explain the ins and outs of an SR20DET swap to someone who didn't feel like wasting the time clicking the big red search button and typing in a prompt "HKS Hiper."

Threads like this are basically spam threads, and they will always have a presence.

I was wondering if Catback bought for a KA is transferrable to a SR.

Who's "we all"?

Depending on what size turbo you're running, and specific setup 3" may be too small or too large.

3 inch is a good, but remember Nissan didnt make the piping for the SR in 3 inch. 3 inch isnt necessary for stock boost and low hp applications. Its just nice to have. 2.5" should suffice without a negative impact on the turbo.

Thank u speed racer for showing some sence to this : )

Exactly...most Engineers know what they are doing when they design a car, and they dont use 3" do they? Hmm...

3" is good for someone who wants to upgrade, or run higher boost, but for a stock setup on an SR, a Galant VR4, TSi, GSX, 2.5" is going to be "STANDARD" contrary to what others are posting. I know of sr20det cars that have run 12's with 2 1/4" exhaust.

Yes 3" is the popular, jump on the bandwagon, number, but it is by no means the smallest, nor the biggest.....Remember also, apexi N1 is prob the most popular exhaust, and contrary to popular belief, is larger than 3".

If your stock, 3" is going to show less gains than 2.5"...sorry to break it to you.

What about Bee-R? Nobody has one of their exhaust systems, and I heard that they are pretty good and sound nice. Other than that, I had planned on getting an HKS Hiper.

You are contradicting yourself. You are the one who said "STANDARD" in biiiig capital letters, and don't start now talking about upgrading. i know a lot of people who put completely stock sr's into 240's here, its probrobly around 30%. And just upgrading your 'stock airbox' still would not give you reason to have a 3" exhaust. If you are not drag racing, and are not running 14+lbs of boost, planning turbo upgrade, 3" downpipe, etc., you wouldnt even want a 3" exhaust if you were practical....but disagree and disagree, you are the one playing yourself. Continue at will.

3 inch is not needed for a 2.0L Turbo... the Japanese design the exhaust systems to work with upgraded turbos as well as stock applications. This prevents people from having to switch exhausts. 3" is NOT required on a stock turbo SR20. In fact you'd have more torque with a 2.5" system. There is no sense in having an exhaust pipe diameter that is larger than your turbos exit diameter. Having such a large exhaust, believe it or not, is counter productive as the exhaust gas now has to be pumped out by the engine. This costs torque which translates into hp loss. I know plenty of DSM guys running 2.5" exhausts well into the 12s and one was in the 11s. SRs on stock turbos and BPU are good for 13s.

Do you know how to tune a car Silviagirl79? Who knows, maybe they took the car to a dyno and found that using stock exhuast improved the characteristics of the power curve.

BTW are you the same 'silviagirl79' that rips people off on ebay? http://cgi2.ebay.com/ebaymotor...irl79
