i have a straight pipe on my 240 and it makes anice deep sound. but i've seen alot of 240's with this exahust specifically the muffler tip that goes to the side like on this picture http://i4.photobucket.com/albu...r.jpg (got this pics from one of the guys ont he forums)can i just get a muffler tip like that or a whole exahust. iam thinking straight pipe is the best. any comments or recommendations about getting an exahust like that or at least the tip that looks like it?

thats just ur basic canister style muffler. They are all over the internet. As far as the angle? That is built into the system or whatever, to clear the gas tank, suspension, and eliminate as many bends as possible.

I don't know if there's really much actual function involved in the angled vs. straight exit exhaust debate (if there is one).

I think it's pretty much just an aesthetic preference, just like the preference of some for single tip over dual or vice versa.

Personally, I prefer a straight-exit, single tip, oval canister exhaust, like this one:

Mine's Silence VX, in case you're wondering.

Well, I'd search the forums for "sleepy eye".

I know there are free ways to do that, or at least I think there are. Although for $5, I mean hell, may as well be free. I think sleepy eyes look cool, but I think triple-projector Silvia lights look cooler

your car looks decent, so does his, but please, get him to take the wing off. Its not a supra. Preludes look so much cleaner wingless

haha yeah that wing looks rediculous.. as for the muffler, just find a complete exhaust system that you like the look of, and see ifyou can get some sound clips... sleepy eyes cost me about $3 .. i bought a switch and some wire...which is the same thing in that auction...

i wrote up a diy for sleepy eyes plus installing fogs a few days ago. look for it. its free as hell. as for the exhaust a lot of the aftermarket ones end up coming out the back a little angled because of trying to eliminate bends. i have a cheapy 2.25 muffler shop special with dual n1 style mufflers. mine has a lot of angle. i lone the way they look.

the way our exhaust is laid out, it has beds and turns...

the reason the muffler comes out at an angle is to get the exhaust pipes to come out the back with very little bend at all.

the one you posted a picture off looks like a cat back system, not just the muffler. it is hard to just weld a muffler at an angle.. not saying that it can't be done but it's hard.

you get little back pressure from angaling the exhaust.. compare the picture of a stock exhaust with a cat back one that is angled and you will see why they do it that way.

I really think that the angle is just for looks. Laying my HKS and stock side by side, there seemed little difference in bends. And the angle is so minimal that really seems to have little with easing gas evacuation.

IIRC (i didnt read teh entire thread) the bend serves not much purpose....i mean Megan-Racing makes a "drift style" exhaust for a few cars and the only difference between it adn teh NA type is the angle "up and out" look
