EX35 Slip light coming on intermittently

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Self explanatory, the Slip light comes on occasionally, then when the ignition is cycled it usually goes away. Started a couple weeks ago when it got pretty cold.

I Googled the symptom, found people on the infinitifx.org forum talking about the slip light AND VDC Off light coming on at the same time, my car is not doing that, it's only the Slip light. No drivability problems. Suggested looking at the fluid level, mine is good.

Car has 64,000 miles on original brake pads.

Ideas?

An intermittent fault in the wheel speed sensor wiring can cause this, or a failing wheel speed sensor.

Should throw a code if it's a legitimate issue... do you have access to a scan tool that will read pending or stored codes?

Well, once again, don't trust the wife when she says things...

So I scanned for codes, none. Then I took the car for a drive. Discovered that if you accelerate from a stop going uphill the Slip light comes on and stays on, BUT ALSO the Brake light comes on for a second or two. She didn't mention that one.

Had a look at the brake fluid reservoir again, and the fluid was lowish, not really close to the Min mark but it was difficult to see where it was because of where the seam between the top and bottom of the reservoir was. Topped it off, took another drive and attempted to replicate the problem, nada.

Calling it fixed.

Thanks for the input!

Nicely done.

Just as an aside, for anyone else dealing with this: Periodically, the sensor that detects a low fluid level CAN get "stuck."

I believe these work the same as the one on my C5 Z06, which was a PITA. There's a little float with a magnet that can get stuck due to funk in the fluid (or because it's a bad design). The sensor thinks the fluid level is low, so all manner of mayhem ensues.

Two options: Flush fluid and clean the reservoir completely, and make sure the "float" returns to the top when filled (and possibly replace the sensor), OR simply jumper the two wires that plug into the sensor, and maintain your brake system without the electronic nanny.
