EX35 Rear Wiper Replacement

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

After a search that came up empty, I figured it out myself. There may be a better way but this is quick and easy, and you'll save an hour of dealer labor and their cost on the part.

I ordered an Infiniti EX35 rear wiper blade from Infiniti Parts Warehouse. PN 287901BA0ACost me $15 to my door. You will need a 10mm wrench. With both hands, grasp the wiper arm at the base, and place both thumbs on the rounded base cover with your fingers on the edges of the cover underneath. This cover is only about 3" long. Gently lift and pull the cover off the base of the wiper arm. You will see a 10mm nut. Remove the nut. Your wiper arm is on a knurled stud. Do not pry or force the removal of the arm. Gently wiggle the arm and pull straight up.

Now that you have the arm assembly in your hands, hold it so that the arm is in your left hand and blade is in your right, upside down so that you see the spring and the underside of the wiper arm. Gently rotate the wiper blade assembly down and away from the arm with your right hand and it will snap off. Replace the wiper blade with the new one which simply snaps into place. Replace in reverse order. To ensure proper alignment on the rear window, hold the arm in the desired location with your right hand while you snug the nut into place. Replace the arm cover by gently sliding it over the nut and snapping it into place.

Have a beer and celebrate a small victory over the dealership. This is not the time to be ham-fisted as you are dealing with plastic parts. Don't force anything and it'll be a 5-7 minute job. Feel free to correct anything here, and I'll try and add pics tomorrow. Hope this helps somebody. If there is an easier method, feel free to correct me. With no tabs like the front wipers, I found it necessary to remove the arm so I could rotate the blade off of it.

Funny, I replaced mine last week. I didn't bother taking the arm off. I was able to pull the blade out of the frame then insert the replacement; which I had pulled out of the new frame. Took me a few minutes to figure out I could get the blade to bend enough to slide out of the frame.

I was surprised that you would have to remove the arm to change wiper blade and frame.

That was plan B, but I needed a new blade complete on there. I'm kind of surprised that Infiniti didn't make the arm with the ability to articulate like everybody else does so you don't have to disassemble the damn thing or pirate a blade to make it work.

Good tips guys!

I went with the removal of the arm approach since I don't have the most delicate of touches!

Next up is the cabin air filter!

BTW, who knew that the air filters were such a tough find!

This thread came just in time. I logged on to see if anyone had already posted on this. I didn't bother checking if there was a special procedure and just went into WalMart and got a 15in blade. Tried replacing it in the parking lot and had to give up. I noticed that 15" was too long and that I could not get the blade out without taking it apart.

Thanks for the advise. By the way, is that a 14" blade?

Sorry to take so long to see this. Hope you were able to figure out. Can't recall the length now, would have to check the bill from the dealer. Next time I am not buying from the dealer!

Jfberlinger: After your post, I went out to look at my rear wiper blade. On all my other hatchbacks I've owned, I could pull up the rear wiper arm 90 degrees and it would stay in place. On the EX, I can only pull it up several inches and it doesn't stay in place or want to go up anymore. Is this why you had to take off the arm assembly? This makes cleaning the rear window a two handed operation.

Thanks for starting this post. Removed the cap, then the nut. Took all but 5 minutes to remove and re-assemble. Replacement blade is a 14B. Thanks again really easy, plus the tip on the 10mm wrench was a real time savior when it was 15 degrees outside.

Went to my local Pep Boys to buy a 14B wiper and do my own installation. On the way in I noticed a sign offering free wiper installation. The Pep Boys guy installed it exactly as described in the first post. Cost was 7.99 and I was in and out in ten minutes.

I was shocked at the dealer saying 40 bucks to replace rear wiper :wtf2: . once i recovered ....

Went to canadian tire and bought a universal rubber replacement (2 x 20" rubber wipers) removed the existing rubber a and the metal wires that fit in the grooves of the rubber. Slide the replacement in the existing plastic wiper frame snipped it to size with cutters and done

about 5min... and $5.99 still have one left ! working fine for past 3 weeks in the rain and snow .

Well, my rear wiper blade gave out today and following the instructions on the first post it was a breeze to swap.

The blade was $8.99 at my local Autozone and took maybe all of 3 minutes to swap with a 10mm socket wrench.
Thanks for the tips!
