My new EX35 leaks engine oil. The transmission was removed and rear main oil seal and oil galley welch plug replaced. That did not fix the problem now infiniti has ripped apart my new $45,000 vehicle to replace the short block(lower engine). I feel that Infiniti has a problem with their new integrated rear mail oil seal , it is no longer installed with a bearing carrier just pressed into the block. I feel that Infiniti should replace my vehicle. Ideas, opinions, similar issues? So far a horror show, but politely.

Damn, keep us informed. Didn't know they had changed the rear main seal design.

I would feel the same way - but I can't imagine they would replace the whole car. To some extent, it's just the downside of buying an all new design. Do you know if the 07' G35 sedan engine is the same? I have followed those a little, and never heard of this issue...

If I were you, I would document everything and get very familiar with your state's lemon laws.

As Brian said, please keep us posted...

back in 2002, i bought a very early production V35 (g35 sedan). although the re5r03a had already been in service for a year in the F50, mine wnet into failsafe mode with less than 200 mi on the odo. this was on the 3rd day of ownership. the car spent the next 2 weeks getting diagnosed and a new transmisssion. i contacted ICA several times expressing my dissatisfaction, best i could do was a good will gesture of $600 cash which was the equivalent of 1mo. payment even though i didn't finance it. to the credit of the techs that worked on it, i could find zero evidence of replacement including witness marks of tools on the bolt heads (yes, i did see the removed unit).i know short block would be seemingly an appropriate mitigation, but it would also irk me--doubtful to match the factory assembly processes.

see if you can score a goodwill, dump the car before it's out of warranty.i got seriously bored with the V35, and ended up with 3 nice old Q's for less than what i sold the V35 for.PS- not all infiniti products are lemons.

Hence no GQJay. The V35 is a nice car, but no G50. Not much else comes close for less than $70K, about what it cost new in today's dollars.

P10 5 speeds are good cars. Very few good ones left, I would bet.
