EX35 - HIDs

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Looks like,

Exposure 4
Aperture f/5.6
Focal Length 23 mm

At least that is what Flikr is telling me.

Ramprun,

did u retrofitted your factory halogen projector to HID projectors? If so could you post similiar shots as G3LO's so we can compare?

Appreciated.

that is what i am planning to do and that is why i asked him g3lo for his camera setting.however, mine aren't retrofit projectors but just a bulb replacement. it is a bit tricky to compare different hid bulbs without similar camera setting because it wouldn't be a fair comparison if i open my shutter twice as long as g3lodid. Also, if you guys show me how to post picture that would be helpful. i was going to post the emission spectrum of my light from 300nm-1000nm taken from a spectrophotometer but since i can't post it i deleted it. if my memory served me correctly, i think the maximum peak is at 570nm for 5000k and the sunlight is at 530nm for 5700k. however, my HID isn't a real black body radiator so i wouldn't expect it to be dead on with 5000k. the purpose of my experiment was to see if the they market my bulb right at 5000k. by the way, i forgot to mention that my bulbs are 5000k at 55w so if it is a true 55w, i would expect it to be about 50% brighter than g3lo's

From my understanding, a 55W ballast on a 5000K = to around 4500k or less, due to higher watts that makes the color of 5000K washout. It maybe brighter and more lumen, but not as white as the 35W ballast on 5000K. Maybe I`m wrong, but according to DDM, the color of a 8000K on a 55W will look similar in color with a 6000K on a 35W ballast. To me has a bit hint of blue like mine.....(35W 6000K)

i don't know that at all. what what i tested before, it is definitely at 5000k. Now, two questions should be asked. first, is it possible that i received a 35w kit unknowingly since other seller indicate that there should be some washout with higher wattage kit? Second, is it possible that the seller already take that into account when they sell me a 5000k at 55w kit? like i said before that i measured the emission of my kit and it was pretty close to 5000k. so it possible that i got a 35w kit unless i compared it against g3lo to see which is brighter. since i know that in g3lo's picture, there is still detail in the highlight which means that the RGB value didn't reach 255 values. i can compare my RGB value, taken with my camera, to his. Assuming that g3lo's kit is also 5000k

Not sure how to answer your quesition. Seller sending different ballast wattage is possible and I heard this happened before. Even the bulb itself, sometimes they send different K temp or even different size.

The best way to find out if you have a 55W kit is to count how many high beam flashes you get from the oncoming traffic. :-)
My 35W kit is bright enough... :-)

i got a lot of flashes from on coming traffic if i only have my low beam on. virtually none flashes if i have my fog on with my low beam. maybe everyone knows that it is impossible to have high beam and fog on at the same time so they just assume i have low beam on which is correct.
