Ex35 headlights

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I was wondering how you get the inside of the 2008 ex35 to be black instead of the regular silver. Im deleting all the chrome and feel it would be a noce touch. Help if anyone knows how or has done this already.

It would probably be easier to just smoke the headlight lens. But if you want to take the headlight apart, you have to bake the headlights in the oven. You can find videos of how to do it online. Make sure the lens isn't touching any part of the oven when you do it. You will also probably want to order more butyl to reseal the headlights when you put them back together. You can buy it on theretrofitsource.com I think they even have a video on their site of how to bake it. Keep in mind that if you ruin the headlight the halogen version is about $300 per headlight and the HID version is about $1300 per headlight. So you may want to practice with a broken headlight you buy off ebay.

Wow - there is a lot of chrome on our cars to delete (wheel logos/under doors, door handles, window trim, trunk trim, trunk logo, grill and grill logo, EX35 emblem, (interior too?)...I am sure I missed something. I considered it also and I bet it would look very nice...but I am way intimidated about the baking headlights portion. I just KNOW I would mess something up or not seal it correctly.
I decided against it just because there was so much to do if I wanted to do it right, and I didn't want to half-a** it...

Yeah...It would be a lot. If you decide to go through with it, I would just take your headlights to a body shop and ask them to smoke the lenses. As for the rest, it is still a pretty difficult task. The Headlights still require removing the front bumper (unless you just tape around them, but that might not look as good). You would probably want to smoke the rear lights to match the headlights and to remove the rear lights you basically have to remove all off the rear trim from the interior of the car. I am pretty sure you have to take off the front bumper to do the grill too. The door handles require removing the door panels to disconnect the wiring harness for the intelligent key and the front door handles also require removing the window glass and the regulator. Basically...It just turns into a monumental task. I think it would look great if you finished it...but just make sure you know what youre getting into before you start.

You could also do what I did and remove the EX35 emblem from the back. It is small and simple but it make the rear look much cleaner.
