EX35 Headlight question

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hey guys, new to the forum here with a technical question to start it off =D. I was recently in an accident and cracked one of the headlights on my car. My EX has the Xenon with AFS and I was wondering if..... I have done extensive research but cannot find a clear cut answer to this. The NON-Xenon housing, meaning the halogen housings for the EX35's seem to be identical to the Xenon, even the harness is the same. The only part I cannot account for is the swivel mechanism inside the light for the AFS. Would that be the same in the non Xenon housing and just not used. I figured it would be like a harness for example in a car with no power win/locks, you could just buy the OEM pieces and the harness has the connectors already in place just not in use..... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

There are a couple headlight enthusiasts here, just give them time. It's just a more technical/specialized question than probably most of us can help with. I upgraded my non-xenon to some 4300k HID, but I didn't take anything apart...

Hey dude... five hours later, and you're wondering why no one has answered? Welcome to the Forum, by the way.

Start with this link...

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/EX/2010/EXL.pdf

Then scroll down to page 205

It says..."HID control unit and xenon bulb socket cannot be disassembled"

There's no mention of the wiring harness being different between the two models of Headlight fixtures.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then go to this link...
http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/EX/2010/PG.pdf
Then scroll down to page 64
It mentions all the plugs for all the things the Wiring Harness is good for.
There's no mention of the wiring harness being different between the two models of Headlight fixtures.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Same link, then scroll down to page 66

It mentions what the Plugs do.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Same link, then scroll down to page 79
It mentions how to read the Harness Layouts.
Same link, then scroll down to page 94
It mentions how to pull the different Connectors apart.
There are some Techs on NICO... but you'll have to wait for them to come around. They are in high demand!
Hey guys! thanks for the info, but after real life trial I found that the inner housing is different for AFS/Xenon and Halogen type. Unless I want to bake open the light and swap, etc ,etc which I dont have time for :gapteeth:
Sorry about the "No one?" post. I also have a G35 and signed up to G35 driver since 2005. I post there and I get replies before I hit post :rolleyes:. I am new to the EX community but thank you guys for the feedback, I know there arent that many EX35 enthusiasts as there are G35.
Let me know if you would like to get rid of your cracked headlight assembly (if you still have it). I plan on painting the chrome trim on mine and it would be nice to have a damaged one to practice on. I would not need any of the mechanical hardware if that is a concern of yours.
Thanks
D
