EX35 has caught my eye. Need Advice ASAP

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and would like some advice. I currently have a Nissan Rogue but thought it was time for an upgrade before it lost its value. Also time for new tires and brakes, out or warranty, so this seems like the perfect time. I initially looked at a CPO G37 however it was just to low in the back seat. Sells person showed by a CPO 2010 EX35 and although it is similar is size to my Rogue boy what a difference. This car has 11,500 miles on it. Best price I can get is about $33,000. They are willing to give me a 30% discount on an extended warranty if I desire. This version of the EX35 is the Journey with AVM and Navigation package. Is this a good price? While I normally do not purchase extended warranties I am leaning in that direction because I do not plan on purchasing another car for a long time and want to be protected against high expenses in the future. Would you recommend the warranty? I believe it is the elite warranty. I have also been told that for normal warranty work, oil, filter, ETC, cost out of pocket while car under warranty is about $50.00 does this sound correct.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

If it's CPO would it not already have the extended warranty? I bought mine CPO also and I did not have to pay for any additional warranty. Should be covered for items under CPO for 7 years 100k miles (or whatever the exact #s are). Not sure what the $50 maintenance thing your talking about is. Maybe the $50 CPO deductible?

You are correct the vehicle has about 4 years remaining on the CPO warranty. The extended Elite warranty would extend it for an additional 2 years. The $50.00 dollar fee I was referring to is in fact a deductible. I was informed that when the vehicle comes in for regular maintenance that I would just need to pay the $50.00 deductible. The sales person did not appear certain so I asked him to double check for me. Because this is a car I think I will hold onto for a while, is the extended warranty a smart move?
Thank you in advance.

negative on the extended wty.... Big negative. It isn't a BMW or a Ford. (it is more reliable) Your additional 4 yrs of wty should be just fine.

Yeah, I agree. I didn't get an extended warranty which they try hard to sale via letters in the mail around the time that it ends. I feel like it's probably not worth it, but it's a kind of insurance.

In that case I agree with the others that it's not worth it to get the extended warranty. Also as far as I know Infiniti does not have free maintenance (unless its a dealer specific thing) so the $50 deductible is really only for warranty work under that extended warranty which wont even take place till your regular and CPO warranties expire. Considering I can pay $39 at the DEALER for an oil change I probably wouldn't do pre paid maintenance either.

Its up to you I went wth the Elite I plan on keeping this EX35 a long time.
I also had the warrenty on my BMW but ,BMW covers everything even wear items.
The Infinity elite is 50 deductiable and cover bumper to bumper for 2 extra year on top of the certified Infiniti warrenty. The cost of peace of mind.

I think you can do better then 33 for a 2 year old vehicle. I have the exact same thing and paid under 35 for mine. The depreciation should be more. I would offer 30 and skip the extended warranty.

Key points ...

What was the original "In-Service" date? That drives the ending point of the 7 year CPO.

Do you plan on keeping the car past that time?

Would it make the car more re-sell-able? (but that only matters if you do private sale, not trade in)

Is it transferable? (fees, etc)

For most car owners today, adding 2 years at the end of a 4 year CPO isn't a smart financial move, as they'll trade it in before then.

I just purchased a 2009 EX Journey with 30K miles. I paid 24K for it which I thought was a good deal. I wanted something bigger but could not pass up this deal for a car with only 30K. I almost got another Acura(RDX) but this Car was hardly driven. I have heard that they try hard to sell this to women mostly so it is good to see that other guys have this car. You don't see many of them on the road though which is cool with me. Has all the gadgets and tech stuff. I did get an extended warranty because the current one will expire in about a year. I would not get a warranty in your case.

Thank you all for your responses. They were all very helpful. Still a few things to think about.
