it's a shame ur in TX, if u were closer i'd totally make the trip to come check it out. You're also still doing the Stillen intakes right?txgcoupe wrote:I'll soon find out.
Just picked up a G37 rear muffler today for $100.00. Almost like new.
I'll keep you posted if there is a difference in the muffler alone.

See thats what i'm after... I love that E46 ///M3 kind of raspynesstxgcoupe wrote:Love the deep growl at startup, but the higher range gets a bit too raspy forMy taste.

yea that's what my Z sounded like, it's .....raspy... but actually alot of ppl like the way that sounded. for me i'm looking for something more deeper sounding. More like the sound u'd get from straight pipes + HFC + intake.RioD007 wrote:I've been looking into putting an unresonated g37 stock muffler on my EX
Either that or I might just do straight pipes with stock tips but i'm still not sure what i want to do
This is how my EX sounds with just the chopped resonators

The G37 has a much different engine. Larger displacement and VVEL likely play a significant role in the sound difference.txgcoupe wrote:So my question is... If they're the same exhaust, what makes the G37 sound a lot better?
sounds pretty solid, tho i am not really a fan of the titanium burnt tips. moreso cuz this is also stainless steel and not a full titanium exhausttxgcoupe wrote:Some G37's with the Megan installed.
Nice low growl with out the raspy sound.

i loved the way my TL sounded, i just hated how the car slowly fell apartkamiguy wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrRUt83FC7kThat's the sound I want, also. Would be great if the G37 muffler is a bolt-on for the EX. Not sure about the burnt tips though since I love the stock tips on the EX.. I spend a lot of time polishing them. It's too bad that most sound clips posted are just at idle and then revvin the hell out of the engine. We want to hear idle sounds of course but let's hear what the system sounds like as the vehicle is driven!!
Any news on the G37/EX35 muffler swap yet??txgcoupe wrote:I'll soon find out.

An exact bolt-on. Took a total of 15 minutes, with the help of my neighbor, to install.
Does it make a difference... maybe, just maybe a little bit deeper in tone. Not the true G37 sound I was hoping for.
My next order of business is to change out the mid pipe with one from a G37.
Guess that is where the true growl sleeps.
One difference is the inset of the actual tailpipe in relation to the tip. The G37 tip measures 2" longer and the tail pipe is inset deeper. Looks better.
Sorry the car is so dirty.
