EX35 ashtray recharger unit

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi,

does anyone know how to remove the ashtray/recharger unit? I was one of the people who kept quarders there and my kid played with them and managed to get them underneath the unit. Now I cannot open it all they way when I need to use the recharger.

I am pretty sure you need to remove the entire bottom console piece that it is a part of. MUCH easier than it sounds. There are diagrams in the service manuals, but basically you slide down the leather boot from your gear selector (it un-snaps/disconnects when you slide it down) then there is a metal clip you remove (pulling towards the back seat) then the knob comes right off) then grab down in the boot area towards the heated seats buttons and PULL up and towards you. It will all POP off at once, so be carefull and cover your plastic with masking tape if you think you might scratch it. After it comes out, there are a couple wire clips on the back, but you might not even need to un-clip those.
There you will see the back of the power socket and the small light for the 'felt-lined ash tray' thingy.

Putting it back in, you start at the front/top and slide it under and in the grooves till it is flush - put the gear selector through the hole and then push down in the middle and in the back till it clicks into place.

I hope that helps
