EX35 A Man's Car or a Woman's Car

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Guys who drive chick car gets the chicks...

So far I don't know any girly girls like guys in a huge SUV... They want guys with taste just like theirs.

I surprised my gf with my new EX and she love it more than my WRX

I choose black on black ... looks very 'manly'. Someone commented that the 'white one' is a chick car. Well, I think the 'black on black' is a man's car. IMO.

If someone wants to call me out driving a car designed for a women, well i just say let them, The real question is does the Car get embarrassed by the man driving it?

I'd think front wheel drive appeals more to safety-conscious women, while rear wheel drive appeals to performance-driven males. With AWD, it's a crap-shoot, but since EX35's 2 wheel drive option is RWD...

this whole thing is so...haha, it made me laugh

i came from a 3G TL, and although we rarely had any threads like this one on Acurazine, to be honest i ALWAYS saw more women driving the TL than men.

the whole gender thing is so convoluted...i mean an escalade or HSE is supposed to be for a guy right? WRONG....try driving around Long Island...you'll be avoiding soccer moms in those cars all day long as they make lane changes with out shifting and you dodging them like ur playing frogger. ~ then fast forward to some silly hip hop video and it's a video of some guy driving up to the red carpet in the same cars

arguably there ARE some cars that are gender specific - VW Beatle will probably be women preferred, the new camaro is probably more male oriented...

with regards to the EX? sure it's a "cute ute" but us owners all know that as "cute" as the size may be it's got a 297HP engine running underneath - and apparently 88% of us drive like a bat out of hell

The funny thing about the EX35, it was the one car my Wife and I both agreed on. We bought it. She loved the size, the interior and the looks, I loved the fact I could get RWD and the performance. Most vehicles we looked at did one or two things well, this one did the most for the money. I say, Men and Woman, 50/50.

apparently there are a LOT of eunuchs on this board. this car is the nissan 370gt crossover in japan and has ichiro suzuki featured in one of its ads! the end of the ad says its from the 'nissan premium factory'. so it is NOT a gender specific vehicle. it appeals to women because much like the lexus rx series it is very quiet and refined. most of the reviews I have seen and heard say its for couples or single people. its not much smaller cargo wise than the fx series either. the question of who's car it is sounds like something a teenage girl would ask. its a damn good car that is slightly small cargo wise. for some its perfect and the rest dont matter. oh, and if you are female you are a WOMAN not a women. jeez.

wow okay a few months after I posted this...i did not mean SHIFTING i meant SIGNALING.

also, as part of a mid-term/long-term review/wrap up... this is not a gender specific car for sure. It's odd that this topic came up today, cuz it JUST so happens today that I saw 3 seperate EX's on the road:

1st one, non-Xenon EX35, gonna assume it's also RWD version, driven by a Burberry clad Mom, white color, 18" rims

2nd one, Xenon and definitely HID in the FOGs, everything blacked out, i'm pretty sure the poor guy had tinted his headlights too...anyway, looked like he had 20's or 22s, and i'm pretty sure this idiot also had some small dry shoot, cuz in traffic i kept on hearing the purge. ~ we can safely assume, tho I couldn't see thru the limo tint, that this was a guy.

the only positive remark i have for this guy is that the splash guards definitely make a nice shift of visual weight to the rear of the EX.

3rd EX in dark silver (sorry i dont know the Infiniti color name very well yet), driven by a man and his wife was next to him. - 17" rims but had what appeared to be the front and side skirts. - given the couple's demographic profile, i would say they bought a used one, either way

point is, even with an odd number of cars, it came out even! tho guys were driving more than women.

if u included me i guess it would favor men, but i think this argument if it's a guys or girls is dying out. More and more CUVs are popping up in this segment. Porsche is developing a small version of the cayenne as we speak (probably gonna say it beat the EX37 around the "ring" since the GT-R keeps spanking the 911). The CX-7, RDX, XC60, upcoming X1 and new X3, GLK, Q5, hell even Range Rover is going to be making a smaller version of the HSE sport with a new design, Aston martin and Maserati both are looking at the CUV segment.

god forbid but the Crosstour and ZDX all are trying to fill this niche, and currently the EX35 reigns supreme. When I was looking to buy it was a no brainer once I laid out all the options i had.

CR-V = cute ute also, but with that HP might as well take public transportationRAV4 V6 = the most powerful option after EX35, but i mean..i'm so sick and tired of the Rav4 (needs a new look)..and no xenon ( i have slight night blindness) ~ tho consumer report did rate this as the best CUV to buy, 4 cyl and V6 versionsRDX = just came from an acura, hate the stealership, and at this point i am convinced the worksmanship and quality of Acura is not what it used to be..the inside of the EX outshines the RDX like CRAZYXC60 = for the price it came out to with everything I wanted....i hated the looks and it was just OKAYX3 = eww omg wtfCX-7 = also a viable option, the 2010 version is very aggressive looking and came with pretty good bang for the buck. Then you goto the forums and all you see are problems....also the new navi screen is like this tiny excuse of a navigation stuck on top of the dash...it's kind of pathetic...and u know around here we like to...well...measureFord Edge = a lil bigger than the others, but it is a very good car, the duratec V6 needs to be phased out for a more powerful ecoboost 4 or even 6 (wishful thinking) and the lack of xenon on a 40k ford was kind of

i think those were the main cars i considered back in sept.

My wife and I just got to test driving an EX the other day and according to the salesman, 90% of the car was designed with the female in mind. Don't know how true that is but we were there for her. She did really love it and we'll be trading in her G next Tuesday.

Uhh...not a good salesman, just a truthful one. The quote below was from an Infiniti press release...

"Infiniti says its new EX35 compact crossover was designed for women.

But it's usually the men who seem to care most about the high-tech gadgetry, and the 2008 EX35 (base price $32,115 with freight) is a rolling showcase for the latest technology that Infiniti and the auto industry have to offer"

Picked up my EX35 less than two days ago. Cassis with chestnut leather interior. Wanted white. Wanted Lexus RX350 or Ford Escape in white or salsa. Husband thinks white looks like ambulance. Husband saw EX35 in showroom and fell in love. Me - nice but not so sure. It's my car and the more I looked at the EX35, the more I liked it. More bells and whistles for the price than the Lexus and not so meat and potatoes as the Escape. Lexus RX350 is a soccer mom car and with their low lease deals - I know understand why so many drive them. Didn't want to be a soccer mom and the EX35 is pretty rare around here. Looks like a sleek guy's sports car with room for drywall, kids, Costco and luggage. I never thought of it as a chick car!

Here's my 2 cents:

My husband and I have spent a great deal of time searching for a great car. We bought the EX35 (for me mostly). It is a little bigger than what I am used to but exactly what I wanted - a "crossover/suv type" of vehicle but still "smaller feeling".

I think it is PERFECT for me!

My husband loves the car - but he does feel it is a bit on the "girly" side. Now he's on a quest to get the FX35 and we'll consider them the "his & her" vehicles in our driveway.

In my opinion - I think the EX35 is more fitting for a female driver (style-wise) or older adults (male or female). We are speaking of material style which of course doesn't matter in "true life" but - since it's a topic question I'd say if I saw a 20-30 yr old male driving an EX35 it wouldn't look as "masculine" as seeing him drive an FX. The FX is "meatier" bigger & "tougher" looking

** P.S. I also think that it depends on the color!! For example, the Blue and Black exterior colors with roof rack make it look more like a "guy" car

You know....the 240SX was originally marketed to women in the US. But these days, how many women do you see driving those?

I can't help but wonder if the EX might end up being the same sort of thing.

I've been considering a new daily for quite a while and have test driven the EX35. I really liked the output from the VQ35HR engine (my current daily/track car is a DE 350Z) and like the other Infinitis I've been in/driven, the EX had a great interior and felt pretty large inside. If it wasn't for the engine in the thing, I probably wouldn't have given it another thought.
