EX35 9 months or 7500 mile service

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Bringing the 2008 EX for 9 month, 7500 mile service next week. So far EX has been pretty good. I have two recurring problems. One with the TPMS (light won't go off) and dash rattles. I also have a passenger window lift that is noisy. Ex (2WD) is getting pretty good mileage after 6K miles - around 20mpg around town and 25mpg on highway.

I find the dash rattles annoying but not major. The TPMS light did the same thing when I first bought the EX. Dealer says it is one of the monitors. I checked all the tires.

I traded in my Lexus on the EX and find the build quality not quite up to the Lexus standard. It does handle, brake and accelerate much better. The noise and ride is about the same. Just wish it had a little more room.

Good info there.

I just traded in my Lexus IS250 for an 2010 EX35.Yes, I do agree Lexus is very good with their details. the details in the dash board, lighting, comfort and more. truly a lexury car.as for the Infiniti Ex, its not bad as well, just the internal details can be improved on. But the power and control you get from the Infinit is way better than Lexus. I guess there is always a trade off, nothing is perfect.

For the TPMS, u might want to get your TPMS sensor rebuilted. it is a very sensitive device, and some what easily to break. if that happens, just rebuilt a new one. then it should be ok.

Flashzoom- how do you rebuild a TPMS sensor? Service told me they have to reset it if it doesn't reset after driving for a short while over about 20 mph. The sensor light flashes for about a minute and then stays on constant. Given good tire pressure, if the light remains on, it may be a tire sensor. Had the same thing happen on my Lexus.

TPMS should be a warranty item.

If the trouble persists... you should insist that the trouble be fixed.

My passenger window makes a "straining" noise when it goes up. I will have them check it next week. The Infinity dealer here in Melbourne FL is really good and I am sure they will find the problem.

True your TPMS may be defective but once that issue is resolved/repaired, convert your tires to NITROGEN. My 2010 came from the dealer prepped w/nitrogen and I have been amazed at the improved performance. Check the web and you'll see all the benefits from switching to nitrogen. Don't even need to check tire pressure but every 3-4 months.

The TMPS is a warranty item. Its propably a defective sensor. They are mass produced like candy, so sometimes bad ones escape. Dash rattles are somewhat uncommon. I don't hear about those much here at our dealer. However a good description of what it sounds like and when it occurs will help narrow down the issue, be it a loose bolt, or trim clip that broke. The window is also a strange one. Its also a simple fix. Nissan uses a very simple and effective window operation design.

Stanyite - My tires do have nitrogen. That's what unusual about the tpms light being on. I checked the spare also but I don't know if it is part of the tpms system. It is in today for service so should have it back by tonight.

It is cold today in Florida so I don't think they will find the dash rattles. These rattles have the only issue that bothers me about the Infinity quality. I have 2 Chevy SSRs convertibles and neither has dash rattles - top rattles, but no dash rattles.

Well - got my EX back yesterday and the 7500 mile service cost $74.00 (oil/filter+ tire rotation and balance). They reset the tpms and reregistered? the sensors - light is off. Passenger window lift needs a new motor. Will have installed this next week. Still has warm weather dash rattles and of course it is cold now.YB
