EX With Paddle Shifters

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

In addition, it will be clear to the dealer that the paddles have been added.
My dealer is pretty chill and wouldnt let that affect warranty, but it is up to their discretion.

For the EX interior, its hard to play off the "it came that way" card since the plastics have to be cut. That will be your only worry.

I have had mine in for weeks now and love them, I dont use them that much but they are fun on the highway mainly for passes. Im kind of glad i was the first to do it and help out others see how easy it is to add this mod.

Cheers

Hi Guys

I am new here and just found the installation instruction for these shifter paddles.
Could someone please tell me the part numbers of the paddle connectors with pins, and the pins used in the unified meter box?
Thanks, your help is much appreciated!

I am curious if anyone has looked into the Q50 paddles as a "kit" ? Would the OEM steering column trim work out of the box...assuming the Q50 is close to the EX the time might be a perfect fit with no modification.

Has anyone checked the 2011 and newer vehicles for paddle mounts (no tapping /brackets required) ?

Im not sure if the QX50 offers paddle shifters now, I didnt see them in the showroom model I saw. The only new feature seemed to be the blind spot warning.
But if it does come with the panels then yes they should be a direct fit. Its basically an EX35/ex37

I do not believe the Q50/G steering wheel surround is the same as the QX50/EX. I ended up cutting my surround to install the paddles, I don't think it is very noticible, it looks like a casting mark on the plastic (I made a straight slit down from the top to the area I needed to trim out).

Hi

Does anyone know the part numbers of the paddle connectors with pins, and the pins used in the unified meter box? Did you get them from OEM ore someone else?
Thanks and regards

Damn .. I meant QX50 .. not Q50. I hate this new Q naming convention. Since I see the new QX50 lists paddle shifters on their website for features.
Assuming they have not changed much else in the QX50 steering wheel/column, then the QX50 surrounds should fit into the EX35 to save cutting ?

I bought paddles from an 08 g used on ebay. I did not get pins for the paddles, just soldered wire right to them. For the unified box, I got pins from newunitedracetech.com, they are Sumitomo NH 025 (.64mm) Female terminal .75mm (copper).

Good luck.

Unless it's a dealer-installed option, the US version of the QX50 does not have paddle shifters as an option. Mine is fully loaded (AWD Journey with Tech) and does not have them, though I think the steering column has cutouts for the shifters (too lazy to go and check now).

There are no cutouts for paddle shifts on my QX50, not surprising since the QX50 is identical to the EX37.

Check this video out. What are the circular holes in the steering column?

Though I don't know if they're on the EX37 or QX50. Will take a look at the QX50 when the better half comes home.

Oh.. Derp! I thought the paddle shifters were mounted on the steering column, not the steering wheel. My bad. I needs more coffee.

The paddles do mount to the column, not the wheel. I do not know of any EX35/QX50 that offers them as an option, so you will need to cut a factory surround to install them. Also, from the original post, the newer models may not even have the provisions to mount them, so you may need to fab up mounts (my 08 had the mounting holes, so it was a straight install, I cannot verify for any other years).

My QX50 has holes on the back of the steering wheel like in the video I posted earlier.

It depends on the car; I've driven cars where the paddles are mounted on the wheel. However, it seems like Infiniti's paddle shifters are column mounted. AFAIK the G, FX, and Q50 have them mounted to the column (e.g. this).

As for the holes, they're called "side lids" and are for airbag removal (see SR-10 in the QX50 service manual); they cover bolts that hold the airbag in place. Mounting paddle shifters there would probably be a bad idea.

Funny I was just discussing this my my friend (infiniti master mechanic) he said its a pretty simple and fairly cheap mod, all the wiring is there ready to go! he also was wondering why it didn't come as an option. My theory is..why would it, let's face it the EX is not "race" oriented if it were it would take away from the other models (sedan and coupe) this goes along with the same lines as decreasing HP even though it shares the same VQ35HR engine with the g35 but with 6-10 less ponies under the hood, and also taming the exhaust note about 2 decibels.
If I go ahead with this mod I will post photos of the process!

Hahaa! You should take that suggestion up with corporate.
My EX is lowered and on 20"s it really is a hot hatch, I get puzzled looks from people when I drive past them and the nod of approval from car guys.

I think I might do the mod in a month or so, I just spent a little to much on my car and my wallet isn't happy about it :tisk:

I have some wire sets can fit EX(QX50) , 11~14 M(Q70) and 08~14FX(QX70)!

I also have some OEM brackets can be used on EX(QX50).

Terminals are 100% match to TH40FW-NH, they are as same as terminals on your car!

Here is something about Installation on EX and FX

http://www.infinitiscene.com/forum/thre ... 271-s-Kit)

http://www.infinitiscene.com/forum/thre ... e-Shifters

Pay attention!
EX(QX60) can install steering cover of FX(QX70) for paddle shifter, steering cover part no. of FX is 48470-1CA2B or 48470-1CA2A
Lower steering Cover of FX is used on EX must do some change.
Red part is from FX, blue part is from EX!
Exchange red and bule parts
