I need some input on this one Nico people.

My ex, Rachael, invited my family and I to her wedding in September. She's the one I posted pictures of way back in like 2004 if anyone cares to look them up. We broke up like 5~6 years ago when she went in to the Navy. We have stayed in contact the whole time.

I am not sure what to do on this one. I like her very much as a person. Great to talk to about technical matters and whatnot. I still consider her my friend.

I am currently in a Long Term Relationship of 4 years. I am turning to you guys and girls before I even bring the matter to her. I don't want any unneccessary conflict if I decide not to even go. My thoughts are, "why bring it up if I don't accept the invite". If I do decide to go, should I bring my GF?

It is in Albany, NY. I haven't been there in 9 years. I'd love to go again for a couple weeks vacation.

What is your input?

Thank you in advance.

I don't see any reason why not to go unless you still have feelings for her and can't bare to see her go to another man.

I say go, take the GF, and have a good time. It would be very rude to turn it down. Weddings are a big deal.

So enlighten me as to why it is even a question whether to go or not?

I guess I'm watching out for my current GF.

I know things like this can "bug" them. Know what I mean?

OHHHHHHHH.

Yeah, girls can be b****es sometimes. I guess just ask her if she want's to go and if she says no than go without her.

Just kidding.

The movie "Wedding Crashers" just came to mind.

well Current relationship > Past relationship. So just bring it up with your girlfriend and she what she thinks. If she doesn't want to go, then you should probably respect that and not go. Girls jump to conclusions. If you go and she doesn't, you're going to turn into a jerk who just used her as a rebound.

She gave you enough of a though to invite you in the first place... go, eat some good food- have a few drinks, have a good time, pay your respect to the bride and groom, then leave if you don't feel the need to stay anymore. Win win if you ask me. Worst case scenario:Weddings are busy days.. even IF there were a possibility of any conflict, it would be a fraction of a percent, being that the bride and groom are always making rounds, talking to friends and family, etc. Be polite, introduce your current gf... meet her husband, BS for a few minutes... then go about your business. *shrug

Sounds like your guys had a clean break, and being that you're still good friends, it shouldn't be an issue.

Also, if your current GF blows up about the whole thing, that would be an indication (to me at least) that there were underlying trust issues all along. If she loves you and trusts you, she would be thrilled to have an excuse to get all dolled up and go on a few weeks worth of holiday with you.

Agreed. Female perspective here, as well. I assume that if you are good friends with this ex, that your current girlfriend already knows about her. If she doesn't, shame on you, you should have told her that you keep in contact with an ex of yours.

I, personally, have a few ex's that I still remain good friends with, and if I was invited to a wedding, I would go, and bring along my current.

I have informed her that I still talk to her. She was ok with that. We seem to be on very stable ground in our relationship. I didn't want to go and mess that up with something silly like this

Same. Its my opinion that your current girlfriend might find is uncomfortable (even if she tells you it doesn't).

this sounds about right to me...maybe not the rebound part but definitely ask her and if its ok then go. if she seems iffy then dont go without her, you'll look like a meanie.

Alright, talked to the GF today.

She seemed perfectly fine with it. No hesitation in her response.

You guys were right. She is looking forward to getting all dolled up

Getting drunk at weddings is fun. Especially if you already have a girl that you are with already.

Edit: Seeing Günther in the above poster's avatar; get her out on the dance floor during a slow one, then maybe you can get her to touch your tra la la later that night. BA-ZING.

I invited one of my ex's to my wedding and there were no akward feelings at all for us. My wife was a bit skeptical, but once I explained the situation, it was all good. The ex brought her then boyfriend and he and I hit it off pretty well. Between him, my best man, and two of my other good friends from highschool, we killed off a keg pretty quickly.

My wife and ex talked for an hour at the reception.
